Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Seriously, the Scottish deerhound up the street used to seriously lean on me when her owner was walking her.

I want one of theses when I get a bigger place.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Yikes, I didn't even realize that she was still alive. Did she EVER publish another novel? Not that she needed to - TKaM is one of those books that can be the only one you need to write.

She's very reclusive. She doesn't go anywhere, usually - she's doing this as a favor to a friend. She didn't ever publish another novel, but IIRC, she did have 2 short stories published in magazines. (?) I must to Google.

Thrive to spite them

Latest update. I know I keep spamming you guys with this, but it's helping me think clearer.

So, I still can't find my paper work. I might have left it at my other mother's house, or it might have gotten accidentally thrown away at Mom's. She's going to look in the garbage when she gets home. The police don't have the report in their system yet so if I can't find that stuff I'll have to wait until Monday after 12. So please, lots of find it~ma for me, I really don't want to leave the impression that I'm being uncooperative.

I contaced the body shop I want to use, they aren't open on Saturday (not a big surprise) and they close at 4:30 today so I can either take it over there now and have them look at it and give me an estimate on price and how long it will take to get parts OR I can wait until Monday and take it over there where they can give them the prices and start working on it right away.

Part of me wants to wait until Monday because my first instinct in situations like this is to flee. By situation like this, I mean, putting myself in a sitution where I assume someone is going to pass some kind of judgement on me or make me feel stupid. I'm explaining this badly. Basically that twisted little voice inside is telling me that the people at the body shop are going to treat me like an idiot and I don't want to deal with that.

On the other hand, I felt the same way with the insurance people and I got through that. Plus if I go now I can get some idea of how much it's going to cost and not build the whole thing up in my head.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I must to Google.

I just did. There was a 1997 version of "Too Kill a Mockinbird"? Why?

Also, has Kara ever heard the song "Mrs. Dracula", off of the Really Rosie album? I think she'd like it.

One my favorite. songs. EVER. I used to belt it out in my room, miming cleaning up the bloodstains "offa the flooooor..."

"Don't you see?/This juicy part was meant for me!"

Good times.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Hang in there, Ali. Just hang in there.

Deena, I think Leif may have a rival for Kara's hand:

Coding and Sleeping

Heh.

When I was four, I gathered my change and walked to the Dairy Queen (some distance away) and got my own ice cream cone. My parents were understandably freaked. All in all it didn't turn out well. A bigger kid beat me up and took my ice cream, and I remember crying like crazy when my parents picked me up while I was walking home.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

You'd have been an awful possessive girlfriend if (and I have a friend with a psycho ex who actually did this) while walking somewhere together you passed a girl and you weren't holding hands. You decided you must immediately stake your claim lest random girl on the street decide to have a go at him so you reach for his hand just as he's swinging it (as you're wont to do when you walk) the other way. This causes a meltdown when you get in the car on the way home. That's awful and posessive- you were just trying to feel out your fairly new relationship.

Ugh. This is the kind of thing I want to avoid at all costs. I don't want to be that girlfriend.

Thrive to spite them

I LOVE the idea of Kara having a vampire birthday party.

Also, I talked to Dad and talked to Mom and this will not get in the way of me moving. We'll figure out something.
