Illyria: We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief? Wesley: There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy...that your life will lead you to some joy...that after everything...you can still be surprised. Illyria: Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?

Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Plei, that picture is amazing. (tickybox!)

Re: "slut"--I dislike the word because to me its connotations are "Women shouldn't like to have sex" and, you know, fuck that noise. But I'll cheerfully call men sluts. Let's hear it for the double standard.

My mother just sent me a job listing that would be nigh perfect for me. It's a part-time library director position, close by, that doesn't require a master's degree. The part-time bit would be good for while I'm in library school (uh, which reminds me, I really need to get that application out soon...), and the experience would serve me really well. And I wouldn't have to commute two hours a day! What bliss.

Compassionately intolerant

Lily is obviously gorgeous and maintains the impossibly high level of cutieheadedness required of Buffista sprog.

But really?

She's got a tremendously wise air about her.

I dunno, maybe my brain melted from the cute, or perhaps I'm naively influenced by black and white photography but, jeez...gravitas.

Like your real ex-boyfriend?? Or someone who looks like your ex?

I am not now, nor have I ever been, intimately acquainted with anyone who has been proposed as a U.N. ambassador.

Though I'd have done Moynihan.

My true-life ex may still have it in him to be a Bush nominee for something, though, the reactionary jerk. The current nominee wears his hair like Joe did, and the moustache is very similar, though grey instead of blond.

Ooh, job-ma, Kate P!

I have travelled with lots of film and they've all been fine. (well in Europe anyway).

My concern would be two-fold--one, even though it would be in carryon and not checked luggage, I would be dragging it through at LEAST 6 and possibly as many as 10 or more X-ray machines. So I'm thinking even if it's OK once or twice, that's probabaly a few too many times, eh? And the second concern is that in places like Korea or Vietnam or Cairo, will I be able to explain to the people manning the Xray machine "No, really, don't put it through, it'll cloud the film"? Or will they just be like "Crazy American girl who doesn't speak our language just put your shit through the machine or submit to the body cavity search!!"

meara, I travelled with a lead pouch for my film and had no trouble with it (well, except for the Indian security team that was convinced that I was going to hijack the plane with the batteries I also kept in it...). And I don't think they're too expensive. On the other hand, go digital! Choose digital! (And thanks for the jobma!)

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Though I'd have done Moynihan.

You made me choke on my tea.

I am so over this semester. 2.5 weeks left. 2.5. 2.5. I just need to keep telling myself that. I have a final tomorrow and after that, I'll be done with that class. But, I still have 1 short paper, 1 long paper and a final for my other class. Oh! And I made a 97 on a paper I email my prof. on Saturday. She asked if she could post it on Blackboard as an example of what to do. Whee!!!

Thanks Kate! I may still consider the digital, but we'll see.

Hey, he was all with the sexy-smart and the erudite quip and the knowing twinkle in the eye. I know my kinks.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Susan, I find Greenlake harder to walk than Seward (though this is the first time I've walked Seward), which may be the press of people part at the former, or the lack of quiet rest spaces, or just the feeling that you have to Really Walk at Greenlake, so you still get a go team from this corner.

How's the Amby working for y'all?

Pretty well! We have it next to the bed, and she seems to be sleeping fairly well in it.
