Discovery/History/TLC (one of those type) had a special on Papal elections last night. They referred to electing an old Pope as 'someone who will keep the chair of Peter warm without moving the furniture around too much.'
'Hell Bound'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I kinda like the thought of Pope Benedictine XVI. Kinda like a huge bottle of liquor in a pointy hat. (More than three times as big as a fifth.)
Since I'm a UU pagan I also lack an aggessive canine, but I'm glad the pope's been chosen. Now we won't have 5 minutes of BBC America (a large chunk considering it's a 20 minute show) devoted to, "Nope. No pope yet." They'll spend a day or so on the Ratzinger Retrospective and Speculations, and then they'll move on to Tony Blair's chances of staying PM, soccer scores, and the latest super 'flu.
My parents- mom and stepdad- are UU, which doesn't count as organized religion. I loved that church though. Alex's service was there and it was beautiful. It's actually where I first met my stepfamily many moons ago. It's not for me, but I still have fond memories.
My UU aunt describes her church as "We believe in one god, at most."
[eta: Which technically, since they've got a bunch of pagan members, is more quippy than accurate. But it makes me laugh.]
I'm disappointed. Really and truly. The marginalization of many American Catholics continues.
We had a few athiests in our church, probably some pagans- though I'm not sure they were in the strictest sense (if there's such a thing as orthodox paganism).
Hugs Maria for all the disenfranchised and disillusioned Catholics I know.
orthodox paganism
I think there was a website, apparently it involves really bad webpage design.
Polter-cow, Nova, or rather Mr. Griswold, sent me that yesterday, Aw, he wants to be a Baby Bayliss...yay him. He'd better get used to being taken for granted a lot though. The picture of the new pope gave me a wiggins. An uninformed wiggins, but still, the man looks scary.

I'm sorry, Maria. It's not my church, but I'm disappointed that it didn't turn out better for you and your ilk.
