[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Calli--my mom just went through chemo for uterine cancer. Here's hoping it's early-stage, but no matter what it is, they have a lot of effective treatments these days. I wish you and your family strength and courage.

My thoughts are with you.
Calli, I'm so sorry. I hope it's easily treated.
Aimee, it sounds like yoour great-grandma is the kind of old woman I want to be someday.

She was running full tilt until her heart went a little bit weak about 7 years ago. Maintained 2 full flower gardens, vegetable gardens. She crocheted, embroidered, and tatted. The tatted lace she made was so beautiful. She has macular degeneration and she's had to give up most of her handiwork over the past few years and that upsets her some, but mostly, she says she sits and thinks about her life and loves what she sees.
Ah, shit, Calli.
Wishing a whole host of parentheses your way.

Calli, I don't know a lot about it, yet. I'm waiting for information from my s-i-l who was diagnosed recently. What I can tell you is somewhat hopeful. My s-i-l is not only stage III B, but had breast cancer within the last two years of her ovarian diagnosis, and had an earlier ovarian tumor. And yet, she said her chance for complete remission (she's already had complete hysterectomy) is 85%.
I haven't looked up more about it yet, because there's a chance there's a genetic component to this, which might mean there are implications for my daughter, Julia. I'm waiting to hear from s-i-l, about the results she gets from tests (re the genetic angle), before I look up more, because I don't want to make myself crazy.
Here's to good, swift treatment for your mom, and a complete recovery, health, and strength, and some peace for you.
You might want to think about waiting until you know your mother's staging, etc., before you go looking.
