well, it sort of can set a mood, and help with people's visualization - seeing themselves in there. I am sad I don't have these people's furniture, but I was glad to see it in there. It made me think, OK well, it is tricky to set up the TV in the sitting room area, or, great, a queen sized bed "does" fit in that corner. Also, we think our dresser will get up to the 2nd floor because the current owners have a large dresser in there already. So, having furniture, though not an abundance, is helpful to my mind's eye, thinking about what I can do when I own the space.
'Beneath You'
Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Why do they show houses full of furniture? Doesn't that get in the way of seeing the house? Presumably, the furniture will be going along with the people who leave the house. I watch the shows about selling houses, and people come in and say horrible things about the decorating, which is irrelevant.
Real estate agents prefer not to, or to have a place "staged" with one or two pieces (usually rented), but the reality of things is that owners are frequently still living in the space and can't get rid of their stuff.
What cracks me up about the Sell THis House shows is when the sellers get pissed off at what the guy helping them is doing. "I hate that color" "I don't like that sofa there". Shut it. You called them, remember?? Besides, your MOVING.
Damn that mouse! Glad your back is better, Jessica.
Much easy birth~ma to Plei and the Princess.
Nora, much condo love from here, too. I am in love with the water feature and so nice to have a fireplace in the bedroom. I hadn't even noticed that on first view.

What she said.
Many people can't seem to see the house for the decorating. We moved a lot when I was growing up. We moved into one house whose previous owners had very modern furniture and the house was pretty modern for the time. It had aluminum windows without divided lights and a fair amount of chrome. We had antiques and pretty traditional decorating. More than one buyer said, "I just don't think this will work. I have modern furniture."
Prepares to roll out the red carpet for Princess Ticky-box and sends lots of ~ma.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch:
Nora and Tom, congratulations on impending home-ownership! I'm so happy for you both.
Here's hoping that some of that luck will rub off on DF and I.
