Also, vw, you're a perfectionist. This means you feel like a failure a lot. And you will go ON feeling like that a lot. That's part of your nature. The thing is, how you feel and what you do are two different things. You can feel like a failure and still go to class if you want. The more you do that th eless power the perfectionist judge in your head will have over how you live your life. You'll probably never be able to silence them, but no reason why they should decide what you do.

vw, what everyone else said. Avoiding a situation that could send you into a spin is a good thing to do. Don't make any decisions about the iPod thing until you've had a chance to look at today from the other end.

{{{vw}}} FWIW, I think if you can physically handle it, you should go to class. Even if you aren't prepared, you will learn/better understand that material by being there and that's the purpose of going to class.

Also, please don't feel like a failure. You may not be paerfect, or have perfect attendence but that done not equal failure.

But I don't have the work done and...and...I don't know what to do.

Not having the work done may put you in an awkward position in the class for that day but is totally worth it if it means you don't feel like a total failure for the day. It probably doesn't mean you won't be able to participate in class discussion even if it's just by listening. And you'll be able to hear the professor's lecture (if it's that kind of class). I think it's a mistake if you are using not having the work done as an excuse for not going to class at all. I feel like that would just compound the problem.

(I feel like that sounds lecture-y and I don't mean it to. I just want to reassure you that not having the work done is not a huge deal and shouldn't get in the way of you getting something out of a class anyway.)
