"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

And I look forward to seeing him try to reconcile his beliefs with reality.

It should make for some interesting COMM posts in the future.

Thanks, Amy, and he is.

Our wings are not tired.

The kids needing sleep is minor compared to my need for down time. I need a buffer between the time the kids go to bed and when I go to bed for me time. Me and DH time is nice too.

One of mine goes to bed when tired. The other never will.

Coding and Sleeping

Leif fights sleep hard. His first tatic is to delay by giving kisses and hugs to Mommy and his sister (I'm usually the in bed putter, so he avoids me at this time). The second tatic is to ask for a snack after I put him in bed (this no longer works, he gets a pre-bed snack and that's it). The third tatic is to adjust the number of stuffed critters in his crib. The fourth tatic is to hugging and kissing me or having me tuck him in multiple times. Then he'll get out of his crib and try to play quietly in his room.

Leif sounds like quite a handful. Is your daughter better about bedtime?

My daughter is an angel. I just tell her it's time to go to bed and she gets in bed and then I tuck her in. Sometimes she'll complain if she doesn't get a bedtime story because it's late, but even then she doesn't really fight it.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I was like Leif. It was because I was always so afraid I'd miss something.

Trust my rage

I know adults say this all the time, but I so look foreward to bedtime. I think it's cute that kids are so resistent to sleep. (Please no one remind me I said this in 6 months time.)

"My drink preference does not indicate my sexual preference. "

I know a kid, Hobbit, who will screech and run and climb things in ways that give me Matrix flashbacks, but the minute he lies down for more than 20 seconds, he falls asleep. It's awe inspiring to watch, but as it's nearly impossible to get him to lie down long enough, it's a rare rare sight.

Can I hold on to this and use it as a Tagline?

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Me too. So far with Annabel it's variable. Usually she'll play quietly in her crib and then drop off to sleep within half an hour of being put down at night, but maybe one night in every ten she makes a big fuss. And she fights the naps a bit more, but it's rarely a big deal--it's just that her pace picks up a bit, she gets noisy, and next thing you know it's amazingly quiet, you look over, and she's crashed.
