Don't you hate that, vw? I have cousins in farflung places too, and I really don't think it's fair I don't get to know their babies. Most of Scott's siblings live around here, so their children are a big part of our lives. Two of them don't though, and it always amazes me if it's a year or two between visits, just how big they've gotten. I don't really think they should be allowed to age while absent from us. It's too disconcerting.

Yeah, I really do hate it. I got a call from one of my favorite cousins just a couple of weeks ago. She's pregnant with her first, and I'm just SO excited for her and her DH. She's got diabetes, so she hasn't been "allowed" to get pregnant before now. She and her husband have been married for 9 years this month. I'm so excited that they'll finally be able to have the family they've always wanted, but so sad that they're so far away that I'll barely get to see that sweet baby (they live in MN).

I used to live close to the cousin who's baby just turned one, so I was a huge part of her other two boy's lives their first couple of years. But, then I went and moved to Boston... Oh, well. Thank goodness for e-mail and pictures. At least that way I still feel like I'm a little connected.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to go to church today. I'm not sure I have the energy to get dressed up and wander out today. But, I had planned to. I'm going to try a few new churches over the next month or so to see if I can find one that feels like a good fit. I like the church that I've been kind of going to, but it doesn't get me there, if that makes sense. I may go through this whole process then decide to just stay where I was at. But, at least then I'll know that's really where I'm supposed to be...

And, yeah, it does feel like Stephanie has been here longer than a year.

Now tagless for your comfort.

We ended up switching Owen rather abruptly to cow's milk last week when we visited my folks. We took formula and I ended up leaving one of the bottles (we used read-to-feed because of water issues) at my in-laws when I made O a bottle. When we got to my folks', we realized we didn't have enough to last the weekend and DH just suggested starting the switch, rather than going out an buying more formula. Since my sister already had whole milk in the fridge, we just mixed whatever formula we had left. By the end of the weekend, he was sucking down plain old milk. We haven't had an issues so far. Although I did end up with a gigantic, unopened can of Similac Advance w/iron at home. The last time I went to the store for formula, it was on sale for $4 cheaper than usual, so I bought two.

Which goes to say, any buffista mom with a baby still drinking that particular formula, ping me at my profile addy and I'll send it to you.

This year has definitely flown by.

I'm pretending I got an extra hour's sleep with DST. I'm going to like the extra sunshine. I'm so glad we're not still in Indiana, who stubbornly refuse to recognize the value of an extra hour of daylight. I refuse to believe that it's the cows that have the trouble with the change.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Mine does too, VW. This morning he learned a new trick, and managed to turn on my bedroom lamp, which has a dangling on/off cord.

I can't believe Owen and Annabel have been around a year already either.

Stephanie is so one of us it is hard for me to believe she hasn't been here longer than a year.

Oh my, Perkins! Your cat wins. Bastet just keeps insisting on jumping on the counter, knocking things off and freaking out the dog.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Happy daylight savings! I know the transition can be rocky, but I love daylight savings. Sunlight in the morning is wasted on me.

I'm with Annabel. I never liked milk, and my mother eventually gave up trying to make me drink it without some kind of flavoring to take away the yucky milk taste. Eventually it turned out that I'm pretty lactose intolerant.

"The cat wants to die" sounds like a password. The answer should be something like "The raven cries at midnight."

Nicole if you are around, can you get on AIM for a minute?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Hey, everyone. Happy Daylight Savings. I fell asleep at 2:30am last night, and woke up around 6. Didn't make it any easier to realize it was actually 7. Feh.

Sorry to be all crankypants right off the bat. I guess getting dumped will do that to you.
