Man, you just get darker and darker, and the weird thing is, your aura? Beige.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, we call him Benedict now? That's a lame Pope name.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

On the plus side, his being 78 means we'll be doing this all again reeeeeeeeal soon.

-t, me too. Although on reflection, he wasn't really all that good a President, you know? He was a good guy, but not so good when it came to dealing with terrorism.

Punishingly Intricate

I think with nuns, they're named by the abbess when they enter the convent.

This used to be true but isn't any more. At least not for all orders. And a bunch who weren't originally allowed to pick their own names were later able to do so. Like my great aunt who's original nun name was Mother Kevin but she switched back to her own name sometime in the late 60s / early 70s I think.

If I only had a brain...

So, a 78-year-old succeeds an 84-year-old.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Benedict is better than Pious.

What is even happening?

So, we call him Benedict now? That's a lame Pope name.
I don't know. I kind of like it. We can call him Pope Ben. That's what I plan to do. But also, wouldn't Benedict mean "good word" or something like that. I can't say I'm thrilled by the selection of the man, but I have no problems with the name.

Oh, and the thing about college seniors not knowing general US history stuff? Senior year of college seems like the time you'd least be thinking about general stuff -- I mean, aren't seniors in college both focused on their majors and really really drunk all the time?

Well, John Paul II was young when he was elected.

Discovery/History/TLC (one of those type) had a special on Papal elections last night. They referred to electing an old Pope as 'someone who will keep the chair of Peter warm without moving the furniture around too much.'
