Super-volcano, robotic rebellion or terrorism? Kate Ravilious asks 10 scientists to name the biggest danger to Earth and assesses the chances of it happening
I think we had a similar list a while back, but this one had one that was new to me. So now we also gotta worry about telomere erosion....
Didn't check out the list, tommyrot, but from what I've read, telomere erosion isn't so much a threat to mankind as a fact of aging.

There is a small possiblity that reading this might make you shit your pants....
However, it is not just through our lifetime that telomeres get shorter. My theory is that there is a tiny loss of telomere length from one generation to the next...
Yeah. Which seems unlikely to me to lead to extinction, but then again, what do I know?
Call me selfish, but I'm not all that concerned about extinction beyond how it would affect me directly.
I'm not entirely convinced that extinction rates anywhere in the bad/good spectrum. Not ours, anyway. It's just a thing.
It'd be a shame if we did it to ourselves, though.
Hey guys...I'm speed-reading Natter, so only one word in about every ten is sticking, which is leading to some odd sentences in my brain.
(Thanks DX! I was cranky because the day I took photos, he got a face rash and gave himself a fencing scar down one cheek. But he'll do; I think we'll keep him.)
Oh, sure. It would be nice not to be responsible for destroying the earth or whatever, but you know, shit happens.
