Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It sounds like you need to steal a couple of pens from work, sumi.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm here, trying to get moving. The dog is trying really hard to get me moving, and I'm about to kick her.

But they're finally coming to repair the big ass hole in bedroom wall today.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Surprsingly not-gronky, since getting up required more of an effort than usual. Probably the result of actually having a good night sleep for a change (both aspects of this morning).

Plus it's really quite pretty out today, which helps (still frelling cold though), as opposed to the RASSINFRASSIN SNOW we were getting last night.

We had a miserably rainy and cold day yesterday, but it actually looks pretty nice out today.

Ugh. Just saw an ad for a news program saying that Karla Homolka is going free. Sickening.

What is even happening?

Calli, loads of heath and healing to your mom, and some peace for you.

Does anyone have a very, blurry water color sort of explanation of Karla Homolka? I'm afraid of your link, Fred Pete (and appreciate your warning).

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

In brief, whitefonted:

She was married to Paul Bernardo who was also, it turned out, the Scarborough (Ont.) Rapist. Before they married, she drugged her own sister so that Paul could rape her, and they accidentally killed her in the process. After they married, in addition to his continuing attacks on women (I think they were in the Niagra area by then), they kidnapped, raped, and dismembered several young girls, videotaping the whole thing. Unfortunately, the police got the idea that Karla was more of an intimidated wife than an active participant, and cut a deal with her to put him away. Shortly after that, their lawyer produced the videotapes showing that she was with him on it all along. So she only ended up getting about 10 or 12 years instead of the life sentence she so richly deserves.
