Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Oh, I think the LiveJournal "Update Journal" button switcheroo is really funny. (When you post an entry and hover your mouse over "Update Entry," the button jumps around the screen for a minute, and then when you click, it changesits text to "Processing Whining".)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Am I a freak, or is this headline slightly misleading?

Pope's Condition Worsening as World Prepares for Papacy's End

I mean, okay, online edition, everybody already knows about the topic, but you would think the NY Times would be a little clearer than that. Pope != papacy, right? I think the latter kind of outlives the former, by design, you know?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Well, if the World does believe that the Papacy is ending, and the World is preparing for that, then the headline is correct.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I was thinking about posting that myself, Nutty.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Well, American Heritage has one definition as "The period of time during which a pope is in office." Like the Presidency.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

But you wouldn't describe the death in office of a president as "The End of the Presidency," generally. It may not be wrong but it makes them sound a bit hysterical.

I just need to share some of the rules for the Kinetic Sculpture Race here at the end of the month:

[link]

Favorites:

Each Sculpture must carry at all times 1 comforting item of psychological luxury heretofore referred to as the "Homemade Sock Creature" (HSC). Homemade Sock Creature must be made in a home, from a not-too-recently-worn sock from the home, and resemble a creature homemade from a sock. (penalty: 1 hour)

If things are not going your way, take it personally--they are picking on you. Pilots, Pit Crews, and Officials will not involve themselves in incidents of kicking, biting, scratching, or fisticuffs. Anyone engaging in such outrageous activities is not honored, but disgraced. (penalty: 1 hour or Banishment)

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Because my NPR station is having a pledge drive, while I was out running errands I switched over to the news radio station that does the Mariners to see if there was a spring training game. There wasn't, but they promised updates on the pope's condition at the top of the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, etc. Just like weather and traffic...

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I just watched next week's House.

Oh, the exquisite angst.
