Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Yay, Emmett!!!!

But why just a wee plaster? Why not the full-on Phantom of the Opera look? Think of your fans, little face-busted dude!!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Phantom of the Opera we could have all dealt with. The big fear was that he'd end up with some version of (whitefonted just in case there's anyone out there who hasn't yet seen Sideways and is planning to) Thomas Haden Church's crazy-ass full face cast contraption.

I'm betting the wee bit of plaster looks almost unbearably cute. I hope he gets his friends to sign his cast.

Always Anti-fascist!

So glad to hear that the news is good for Emmett. Funny how you can develop a soft spot for somebody you never met. (I'm still hoping to fix that over the summer, though.)

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Are saltines soda crackers?

I always thought so. My guess is that soda crackers are crackers leavened with baking soda, and saltines are soda crackers with salt, but I've been misled by similar logic in the past.

I'm pretty sure "Saltines" is just a brand name for soda crackers that's been adopted item-wise like Kleenex for tissues or Oleo for margerine.

Thrive to spite them

Hee! Clearly, they were trying to make you uncomfortable. How marvelous that it backfired every time.

Yeah. It was always so obvious when some guy was asking that to make me uncomfortable -- you could just see it all over their faces.

There was some guy who called the store all the time and never came in, he'd ask about what kind of adult style videos we had -- Playboy, penthouse, movies, and go through the list. Then at the very end he'd ask if we had videos with guys in them. I think maybe he was developementally delayed, and he called all the time. My manager who was cool also had a cruel streak and would give the phone to me everytime he called. (He called enough we could recognize his voice even though we never had a name).
