Ouch. Though, I really don't understand this recent spate of "Let's remake classic horror films with actual budgets and in-your-face special effects." Part of the reason the classic horror films worked was because they didn't have the budget to do massive gore, show-everything special effects. They left stuff up to the imagination.

So, I was flipping past UPN this evening, and they're showing one of my all time favorite cheese-tastic movies, Lifeforce. You know, the buck-ass nekkid space-vampire movie starring Steve Railsback.
Turns out it was produced by Golan and Globus, the producting team that brought us The Apple.

Also, lots of interesting British actors (including Patrick Stewart). Which is about the only actual good thing about it. I kept thinking "this is what it would look like if Hammer tried to do one of their sexy vampire movies as a space epic" while I was watching it back in the day (it's been a while). The biggest problem by far, at least in my memory, is that it takes itself SO seriously. Granted, that's also what made it such a hoot.
