"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Angelina Jolie's going to be in Beowulf

As what, Grendel's mother??

Grendel, one would hope.

Um, the "Queen of Darkness," according to the article.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

She could be Wealtheow (Hrothgar's wife) or Hygd (Hyglac's wife). Or, even better, if they act out Queen Modthryth's story, she'd be an excellent Queen Mod.

Hey. New board.

I still claim Girl, Interrupted was good.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I agree with you, Gris.

the "Queen of Darkness"

I think my fourth grade math teacher is not actually a character in Beowulf, although it would be funny to see her eaten by a thyrse.

I think Wealtheow and Hygd are probably not big enough roles for someone who can claim "tabloids smooshed my name!" This may end up being a very, very strange Beowulf.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Also, it's being made with the same kind of motion-capture animation that was used in Polar Express. I think I may be staying away from this one.

giraffe mode

Oh man, I was bummed by the creepy vacant eyes (and the dancing) in Polar Express. It's the book we read on Christmas eve every year (and sap that I am, I still get teary) so I'mma vote no on Beowulf for us. Oh well, I was looking forward to it, but now not so much.

There is a new version of Beowulf coming out this year called Beowulf & Grendel. The web site has some pictures and it looks stunning. All filmed in Iceland.
