I still claim Girl, Interrupted was good.

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I agree with you, Gris.
the "Queen of Darkness"
I think my fourth grade math teacher is not actually a character in Beowulf, although it would be funny to see her eaten by a thyrse.
I think Wealtheow and Hygd are probably not big enough roles for someone who can claim "tabloids smooshed my name!" This may end up being a very, very strange Beowulf.
Also, it's being made with the same kind of motion-capture animation that was used in Polar Express. I think I may be staying away from this one.
Oh man, I was bummed by the creepy vacant eyes (and the dancing) in Polar Express. It's the book we read on Christmas eve every year (and sap that I am, I still get teary) so I'mma vote no on Beowulf for us. Oh well, I was looking forward to it, but now not so much.
There is a new version of Beowulf coming out this year called Beowulf & Grendel. The web site has some pictures and it looks stunning. All filmed in Iceland.
Oh wow. I really like that cast.
Isn't March the traditional "This movie sucks" release month?
Usually, the dumping grounds are January and August. By the time you get to March, the competition for theater space isn't as bad (the Oscar bait films have moved on), so better films have a chance to get noticed.
Cereal to add this sad obit--Pixar Animation's Joe Ranft, 45, dies in car accident. R.I.P., Wheezy!
