I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

Art Crawl!!!

You know, the promo for the new movie about the Brothers Grimm is very odd. It's as if the Brothers Grimm were Watchers or something.

Maybe it's more a movie about a couple of people who happen to be called Grimm and are storycollecting brothers much like the Brothers Grimm in our universe, except that these guys are a team of demon hunters.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Sumi, are you watching 4400, too? I was just going to come in and post about the trailer.

Looked worth seeing, even apart from the pedigree.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just saw it before The Aristocrats, and it was kind of weird.

As for The Aristocrats -- it made me feel more fondly to a great number of comedians. I've long figured Bob Saget's kids were worth bearing, and that Gilbert Godfried isn't as annoying as he looks, but this movie reminded me of other fondnesses.

It's a lot of laughing -- that in the same weekend as Crashers. But good laughing, even though I felt very self conscious leaving the theatre, like it'd be obvious from my face what sort of variations of the joke I was running through.

looks too Van Helsing-like for me and that movie was one of few that had me leaving the theatre wanting my money and my time back.

plus? i have no love for matt damon.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Bob Saget's kids were worth bearing

Rio's Bob Saget, or the real one?

I just saw Lagaan, which was loads of fun even if I still don't understand cricket. (Not entirely my fault -- they faded out during the scene where the British chick was explaining the rules!) DH and I are seeing the director's new film on Thursday.

For me, the real one. I'm assuming though, that should she be the bearing sort, Rio!Saget is worthy too.

I wonder -- is a Walken impression a cheap laugh? If it's halfway decent, I'm not able to avoid breaking up entirely.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

this movie reminded me of other fondnesses.

Like who? Re: other question, I think so, but in this case, it's such a great imitation that it's a true laugh.

I liked the Aristocrats, but I felt like the movie was alrady summarized for me by any single press article. "Comedian joke. Middle is improvised. Different comics deliver same joke in different ways." And then, like the joke, it had dozens of different comics delivering the same theme dozens of ways. Maybe I spend too much time with comedians, but I just didn't feel enlightened.

OTOH, I just saw Junebug, and I recommend it. It's very rich.

Tiggy, it's a Terry Gilliam movie (Twelve Monkeys, Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Time Bandits), so I can guarantee you one thing it will probably not be is Van Helsing-like.

Art Crawl!!!

Yeah, when I saw the ad again and heard that Terry Gilliam made it -- my expectations for a good film went way up. At least an interesting film.
