On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I remember lots of girls swooning over Langella in the movie. I liked him, and especially his wonderful deep voice, but not one of my big crushes.

That particular film Dracula was based on the stage play with the Gorey sets from the 70s, with Langella as the lead. I saw it on Broadway with Raul Julia as Dracula and he was awesome.

The first act ends with Dracula sweeping in through the giant French doors and scooping her up in his arms and the lights go black and there was an audible gasp from the womenfolk of sheer, carnal desire.

It was my first Broadway show.

Raul Julia, so wonderful. The BF worked with him at the NY Shakespeare festival and had nothing but good to say about him.

A little H-wood gossip: A friend had a job interview for a tech position with Christopher Guest and Guest asked him if he got along with actors. He said "I worked with your wife, you can ask her." At this point Guest (who is a pretty serious and shy guy IRL) smiled and said "Well, she gets along with everyone." Nice to hear him bragging on Jamie Lee like that.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I saw Raul Julia in a revival of Man of La Mancha about a year before he died. He was pretty awesome. So magnetic.

Robin's gossip gives me a chance to namedrop - I have had two nice celeb-sighting/encounters with Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis over the years. Sat a couple rows in front of them at a Shawn Colvin concert at the Wiltern, and was at the same climbing gym in Santa Monica when they brought the kids in to climb. Guest just hung out, but Jamie Lee climbed.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Although I like the X3 casting of Beast, he's going to be old enough to be Angel's father. Which isn't quite right.
