Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

I watched The Specials last night. Fairly amusing.

I used to think I didn't need a family. I mean, I had the demons and the walking skeletons. But the difference between a walking skeleton and a kid is, a kid won't eat the soft parts of your face while you're sleeping.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I loved Paget Brewster in that (much like everything else I've seen her in). But the producers of The West Wing should have sent a copy of it to Rob Lowe when he was beinga diva about contract negotiations.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Ahem.

Re: Batman Begins.

There is a God. And his Messenger on Earth is Chris Nolan.

That rocked more than anything that has ever rocked ever. It re-defines rocking. There is now a poster of Batman Begins in all the dictionaries next to the entry "rock [verb]"

I could go on and on but then there'd be seven gajillion pages of white font interspersed with "And you know what else rocked? It was..."

So I will move to casting villains.

Two-Face: As of this moment my picks for ol' Harv are Ben Browder or, possibly (just because I think it'd be interesting if he could pull it off) Bruce Campbell.

Penguin: Bob Hoskins. Just don't make Oswald a flippered freak again. As much as I enjoyed DeVito as Penguin, I'd like a return to villainy for villainy's sake.

I hope the'yll leave the true "freak" villains like Killer Croc or Clayface out of this. Like Aimee, I prefer the damaged villains, the "bad day" villains.

That said, I'd like to see them do Mr. Freeze right, and I wouldn't mind seeing Patrick Stewart in the role.

Joker: Crispin Glover is a good choice. But my number one pick for years has been Jeremy Irons (Dude, have you seen "Dead Ringers"? He is one creepy fuckin' dude!)

But there are doubtless others out there that I'm missing and might never consider. I've been wondering who would make the perfect Jim Gordon for a long time and never once did Gary Oldman pop into my head. Inspired, I tell you!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You haven't been by recently, have you, Steph? Tons of additions, including just this morning (though this is the only post-Batman new Bale ... so far).

Hey. New board.

My Batman showing sold out between the time I chose it on the electronic touchscreen machine and the time I entered how many tickets I wanted.

It was very sad.
