Were they using the same genius baby chick design as the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons?

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I had that one and Shark Boy and Lava Girl and Kicking and Screaming and Zathura and Corpse Bride. There may have been others. I mostly noticed how much they weren't Serenity or Batman Begins.
Hee. Yup, I thought it was great. Since I was so terribly worried about it, (see above re: quoting for twenty years) I was glad that they hadn't besmirched the memory or anything.
Thought all the casting was great, all the creature shop stuff was fantastic. It was, on the whole, not too terribly offensive to my internal imagery. Although, you know, weird to have all of my internal imagery books being visualized. Marvin was a bit less...gangly than I expected, but still great.
I do definitely see Betsy's claim about less edge, but I didn't feel it too terribly. Will it make it more accessible?
On the whole, loved it. Oh, and we got the Chicken Little ad too, and our audience responded similarly. No Serenity trailer.
I adored that Chicken Little trailer. I think I laughed as hard at that as at anything in the movie. I awarded Disney 1000 cool points for it.
I've actually enjoyed all of the Chicken Little trailers, though I expect the movie itself will be complete garbage.
so I didn't see Serenity or Sith
We saw H2G2 today, saw trailers for both (plus Chicken Little). Looks like the studios are marketing Serenity as Lucas with Joss replacing some of the budget.
Highly amusing, and they obviously tried to be true to the book. And did anyone else notice that the song in the pub scene early on was "Magic Moments" by Perry Como -- who coincidentally died the same weekend that Douglas Adams did?
The Chicken Little trailer confused me at first, because it does start out exactly like the H2G2 teaser trailer, and I've been to a movie where they did in fact show a trailer for the movie we were about to see before the movie. But then it was different, so hee.
Also got Bad News Bears and Herbie and Star Wars and Madagascar, which looks like it will bug me in the same way Shark Tale bugged me.
Love Bug ! I saw the Love Bug trailer too.
New Line is making a movie of Dante's Inferno.
So I'm looking up stuff on The Kingdom of Heaven and I'm completely gobsmacked by the idiocy of the IMBD's user comments. Yuck.
If stupid religio-political bullshit tanks the film, I will be very sad. It looks very good. Brave of Ridley to make a film about the Crusades in this political climate, too, if he's going to show a balanced view of both Christian and Muslim participants in the Battle of Hattin. Brutal and ugly on both sides of this particular battle--except the Muslims had a brilliant leader and the Christians were led by a fool. Baldwin IV tried to prevent Guy de Lusignan from becoming King by removing him from succession before he died.
If anyone gives me shit about how Christians are portrayed in the film, I'm going to have to go Medievil (historically speaking) on their asses and bring up the 4th Crusade. Not one of Christianity's finer moments.
I'm just looking looking forward to seeing Orlando Bloom 60 lbs heavier (and hopefully, naked).
I'm stoked about the movies being released in the next few months--enough so to start lining up a babysitter now. Christian Bale as Batman makes me tingly. And I'm stoked about HHGttG (certainly for casting).
I wasn't planning on seeing Kingdom of Heaven, but I think I will now, just because.
