Okay, cool.
I could have sworn I saw something that made me think book 2, but upon examination, could not remember.
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Saw Sahara and Fever Pitch last night. Enjoyed both of them more than I expected. Sahara is utterly weightless and stupid but McConaghey does the hero thing well and looks damn foine tanned and covered in sweat. Steve Zahn, as always, is World's Best Sidekick, getting every but of humor from every line while still being beleivable. It's no Raiders, which it is trying to be, but it was a fun popcorn movie. The orginal Colin Firth Fever Pitch is one of my favorite movies, so I was fully prepared to dislike this version, but it was fun. The fan world it depcts was right on and Jimmy Fallon actually acts. He was a little weak in a few scenes, but most of the time did a really good job of playing a nice, slightly dorky, puppylike guy. Drew Barrymore was adorable.
Going to two Bergman films tonight. That oughtta be a laugh riot.

In the morning, it occurs to me that some of the Book's lines are probably from other books. And the opening sequence is kind of taken out of context from SLATFATF. But the plot, such as it is, is all the first book.
Jimmy Fallon actually acts.
t drops dead of surprise
t weighs hands
To revive him or not?
wanders off to think some more and have a latte.
Hec, TCM is showing Aventurera 5/19 at 11:15 p.m.
Right the fuck, on! I recommend it to anybody that likes super-juicy movies from the 40s (even though Aventurera is from 1950 - it feels very 40s). I think you'd like it Fred. Also would recomend it to Vonnie, Robin, Aimee. Alibelle I think you'd like the musical numbers too.
I saw Sahara as well. I was kinda surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Good fun action movie.
Just got back from going to the LA Museum for a friend's birthday, where we went to see two of his favorite Bergman films, Wild Strawberries and The Magician. Not only were the films brilliant, it was a huge treat seeing them in a museum setting, where no one in the audience talked AT ALL during the whole film. heaven.
Oh my - sounds like you lacked only massage chairs from it being the perfect moviegoing experience, Robin.
I haven't gone out to see any movies this week (though when I mistakenly thought Kung Fu Hustle was about to open I'd planned to change that). I know I should go see In the Realms of the Unreal while it's here, and I've heard that Ryan Reynolds offsets some laughably bad acting in the Amityville Horror remake by losing articles of clothing along with his marbles, but I just can't work up any enthusiasm for either one.
I did manage to catch one of the myraid showings of Reefer Madness last night though, and it was hilarious. I loved that there was one lone figure in the audience of the framing story pointing out all the exaggerations and unbelievable twists. And the Asian lady who looked worried and slumped down in her seat when they had a horrific baby-eating Chinaman in the film-within-a-film .
Saw Fever Pitch yesterday with a diehard Sox fan. Only way to go. It was cute and I enjoyed it way more than I expected to.
The scene where Ben brushed the dogs teeth nearly did me in.
Tonight, a friend is taking me to the DC Filmfest for my birthday. Going to see "King's Game". I have an unwholesome afinity for Danish film.
