Oh, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like — whoa! I'm eleven hundred years old! I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans.

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Mark is about to start watching Angel S5 and Dollhouse. Check out this awesome banner someone made. I can't even tell which set is which.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I don't know how to tell Mark: "The first season is almost entirely crap and the second season is almost as good as Firefly."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know why you'd tell him that.

He's liking it so far, I think. And he's loving the hell out of Angel Season 5, which seems to be really popular among the commenters. It wasn't very popular on TWoP, if I recall. Or maybe that was just Strega.

So he'll hang around to watch the second season? I won't tell him anything, of course.

The second season close in quality to Firelfy? Serious? I mean, I liked it, but non-small bits of that were pulled out of Whedon's ass.

brillig

Mark's prediction re: Shanshu is interesting.

And he's unspoiled for Spike. Heh.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

And he's unspoiled for Spike. Heh.

I think someone said in the comments to his prediction post that he needs to skip the opening credits of the first episode of S5 so he can stay unspoiled.

Well, I mean, by now he's seen the first few episodes, so that's moot. But I can't wait to read his post about the first episode, to see if he watched the credits and got spoiled for Spike.

I think he did skip the opening credits because he did post that he was somehow 100% unspoiled for Spike (despite Netflix's using the season five DVD cover with Spike) and his reaction on video will be priceless when we see it.

I'll stand by that assessment. The back end of Dollhouse's run had a run of five episodes or so which were absolutely riveting. It doesn't hold together as well as Firefly, but its peaks were comparable. From the last three or four episodes of S1 through the end of S2 is very strong.
