Huh, when I think of Giles' defining moment it's actually when he kills Ben.
I can't wait to see Mark's reaction to that.
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

So many of the commentaters just seem baffled by the idea of school dances and the sports obsession.
A fair number of non-Americans I think.
I got the (possibly erroneous) impression that the baffled commenters are non-US.
Non-USians who didn't catch it the first time around and are now catching up?
I don't think having seen this one episode of television years ago means you fully understand homecoming dances and what the hell they're all about. It's a different culture.
I don't get homecoming, fuck, and I went to a North American university. That shit is opaque.
I worked concessions under the grandstand during homecoming.
I don't remember who won. Ever.
The one thing about Homecming they never seem to put on tv is the people coming home for the weekend, which makes things make a lot more sense.

Me too. We always lost. Because we sucked. I was the only one at our tiny school who didn't give a damn.

What people coming home? I am not familiar with that part. I thought it was just a particularly designated home game after being away for a stretch and an excuse for a dance. Though we were generally much more about the dances than the games (which we always lost, I think we won 3 games in my four years) at my high school.
