Most people is pretty quiet right about now. Me, I see a stiff -- one I didn't have to kill myself -- I just get, the urge to, you know, do stuff. Like work out, run around, maybe get some trim if there's a willin' woman about... not that I get flush from corpses or anything. I ain't crazy.

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I worked concessions under the grandstand during homecoming.

Me too. We always lost. Because we sucked. I was the only one at our tiny school who didn't give a damn.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The one thing about Homecming they never seem to put on tv is the people coming home for the weekend, which makes things make a lot more sense.

What people coming home? I am not familiar with that part. I thought it was just a particularly designated home game after being away for a stretch and an excuse for a dance. Though we were generally much more about the dances than the games (which we always lost, I think we won 3 games in my four years) at my high school.

Trust my rage

I thought alumni were supposed to come back and visit for Homecoming zweekend. Like, have reunions and stuff.

Because books.

Sometimes homecoming is scheduled around Thanksgiving, because people will be coming back. But otherwise, that's what it's supposed to be -- an alumni event with a football game and usually a dance.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am pretty sure at our school Alumni even came to the dance.

Ah, I see. We didn't have much in the way of alumni involvement and what reunions I've heard of seem to happen in the summertime.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Yeah, I never knew Homecoming was supposed to involve alumni. Then again, I'm not 100% sure my school even did Homecoming. I guess we probably did -- football was a pretty big deal at my school -- but I can't remember ever hearing about it, let alone thinking about going. So not my thing.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Graduating from a Big Ten school meant Homecoming was always also reunion weekend. Even for the film majors.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think at the university level it still is often alumni centerered, but for most high schools it's morphed into a more generic football game + dance thing.

Oh, duh, high school! I was at an all-girls high school - no football team, so no homecoming.
