Definitely better than Native Americans!
I wonder how they'll react when Xander's penis gets diseases from a Chumash tribe.
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

At least the show explicitly "teaches the controversy" on the Chumash...yeah, that's probably not enough...
I wonder how they'll react to Willow's denunciation of Thanksgiving.
Is it just because they're young?
Possibly, but you can't say that because it's ageist.
It's all "You mentioned the Romani! You must now make an explicit effort to undo generations of bigotry or you're part of the problem!"
There was a very interesting comment from an actual Romani who was basically like, "It didn't bother me because they always get it wrong, and we don't tell anyone our secret ways, so whatevs."

Get offa my lawn.

Blah. Fixed.
The thing about gypsy curses is they're not just a stereotype but they're also a horror trope. It's all over the Wolfman movies from the 40s. Joss does like to play with the tropes.
Someone noted that on the commentary, Joss jokes that he went with the gypsy curse because it's a "classic" and "Danish curse" doesn't have the same ring to it.
