Wash: So, two days in a hospital? That's awful. Don't you just hate doctors? Simon: Hey. Wash: I mean, present company excluded. Jayne: Let's not be excluding people. That'd be rude.

'Ariel'

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

Of course, I'm the one who's always going back to re-work season 5 in my head so that Riley turns out to be the Glory host, and not Ben.

Wait.... are you saying Ben is Glory?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ha! that's a really good idea though...that Riley is the Glory host (though I almost typed "Glory hole" which adds another unnecessary layer).

I figured whatever they had to remove that was killing him (whatever Maggie Walsh did to him) was blocking Glory, so when they took that out, she started appearing. I think it would have been a whole lot better for relationship angst than vamp!hookers, it would have made Giles actions in The Gift that much more hardcore, and it would have saved us from Charlie Batch's "acting".

Trust my rage

So, Batch was Ben?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I like the Riley-as-Glory idea! And if they'd brought Lilah back, instead of Eve maybe we could have had Christina Hendricks as Glory.

Charlie Weber. My bad. Charlie Batch is a journeyman backup NFL quarterback. I have no idea why that's the name I came up with.

A win-win.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think if they'd just cast any more experienced actress for Glory it would have worked out better. The shows got so much good work out of older antagonists played by actors like Mark Metcalf, Harry Groener, Sam Anderson, and Keith Szara-whatever, but Lindsay Crouse is the only actress of middle age or older that I recall them casting in a recurring role.

Not that Juliet Landau, Stephanie Romanov, and Gina Torres weren't all wonderful, but I wish casting directors had been more mindful that young, beautiful, and talented triple threats are rare and prioritizing the first over the third can cause problems. There's no real reason that Glory couldn't have been played by a Lena Olin type, for example.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kristine Sutherland is really hurt right now.

Ah, I was thinking in terms of recurring villains. But you're right, they did give one actress over 40 a fairly important role throughout.
