Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.
I feel like I need to rewatch S5 Lindsey and pretend like he's Elliot.
Well, they both wield a bat pretty effectively...
And then Illyria took Gunn's place and killed the heart-ripping monster.
Not so much killed as trapped him in the same endless loop he'd been policing for other victims. I loved when she looked from the necklace to him and tilted her head sideways.
Buffy and Angel will have new Complete Series box sets in October. If you don't like the cubes, I guess.
Hulu has all of Buffy S1 streaming until the end of September. Not as great as a box set, but cheaper for some of us :)
'istas of the Hivemind, I need your help.
For purely academic reasons (read: the stuff I do to make other people see the oh-so-strong connection between sci-fi/fantasy and sociology) I really could use a list of references to where it's been explicitly said on "Buffy" that she (or other characters as well) is/are only alive because she/they has/have friends and family. Could work for Angel and Firefly as well. I clearly remember one time Spike said it (hell, I can even remember some of the speech - but can't remember where it's from), and I'm sure there were other times when it's been said.
Thank you!
Coming to mind first are 'The Yoko Effect' and 'Primeval', where the results of not having friends and family close are explored. Spike's comments in 'School Hard' are relevant. Neither of those are directly about still being alive, though. I'll be thinking of more...
The speech you're thinking of, Shir, is probably the one Seska mentions from School Hard (titling the last Bitches thread):
Spike: "A Slayer with family and friends. That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure."
It's a response to being brained by Joyce, so I think it directly connects to her being alive because of family.
