Just remembered another funny thing from last night. The Paley person who introduced the evening was talking about what a special night it was, extra special over other nights and then said, "Of course, that's because it's Buffy and the Vampire." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Xander ,'Chosen'
Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.
I posted a link in Press to my lame and slightly cranky write-up of the event last night.
Pretty good overview of last night:
Yeah, it was mine. Or not. At least not that one. That site copy and pasted a bunch of my stuff on another post.
Tamara, you're totally right: Nick Brendon was completely annoying and obnoxious. You're not funny, pal!
I've seen places online digging at SMG for saying she wouldn't participate in a Buffy musical Broadway play. It was totally obvious in context that she said it because singing terrified her, but they seem to be playing it as SMG = beyotch. Hate that.

and to be totally frank, she can't sing. It doesn't make her a bad person to not want to go onstage and not do a good job.
Oh, Emma, that outfit is TRAGIC!!!
Thanks, GC. I'm glad that you agree. Some posts at Whedonesque had me wondering if I imagined how annoying he was. And SMG was amazing. I had bought into the whole "she's a bitch and wants nothing to do with Buffy" thing since I have never seen her in person.
It was obvious last night that she loves Buffy. Completely and totally. And she simply couldn't be nicer and more adorable. She definitely won me over and that is really not an easy thing to do.
My theory on SMG's bad rap is that she treats her job as a job. She isn't necessarily interested in being BFF with other cast members, but she is pleasant and professional on-set. I could imagine that being perceived badly by other cast members who are looking to connect personally, but there isn't anything wrong with it. I may be way off base, but those are my impressions. She seems smart, funny, and totally gracious to me.
there's an adorable interview with SMG and SG from the "red carpet" of last night's event here. she completely agreed with my Buffy/Oz assesment.

I have heard that as well. She was called "standoffish" and "snobbish" because she didn't want to hang out with people.
Tamara...
It could be more along the lines that while she was in the middle of the show, all she could see was the negatives of it. Which created a negative impression of her amongst the fans.
Now that the show is over, it is easier to remember the positives of the show, such as not remembering Season Six as clearly. Plus, since SMG has left television the movie work (which her agents I am sure were pressuring her to take) has not been as successful, either critically or as commercially, as BtVS. A more positive current attitude towards BtVS may be her acknowledging how good she had it back then.
And, of course, this is me simply extrapolating. Maybe she has been replaced by a Skrull. (See Marvel Comics for joke)
