'A Hole in the World'

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I saw the movie and thought Paul Reubens' death scene made it worth the price of admission. Watching Kristy Swanson bounce around in purple spandex was nice, too. I was surprised to hear about the TV series, then disappointed to find out it wasn't airing where I could watch it. I started catching up with it through the re-runs on FX in 1999. I think the first episodes I saw live were season 3.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Okay, I'm probably not going to W&P tomorrow (or maybe I will--who knows), as I watched Witch tonight. (W&P means not as much time for note taking. I took notes.)

So I give you possible discussion points!

  • Authority for good or for evil
  • Giles vs. Joyce
  • Magic
  • Romance vs. reality
  • Truth vs. lies

I watched from the very beginning. I was pretty much target audeince I think. I was what? Maybe 14 when it started? Obsessed with vampires, horror, a penchant for broody hot boys, and a particular appreciation for sarcasm.

My house mate has just got into Buffy and Angel in the last month or so, and he's unemployed at the minute, so he's been mainlining them. I have no idea how he's been watching them though, because he comes to me with very odd questions like "So when does Spike leave Angel to go die in Sunnydale?" And "Buffy has a mother?"

What is even happening?

Oh Plei, good talking points!

And "Buffy has a mother?"
Did he not start with season 1?

I think he saw whatever series Sky One was airing when he decided to dive in. Then he started downloading and borrowing friends' dvds and I'm fairly sure he hasn't watched anything in order. I think the Buffy/Angel timeline is what's screwing him up the most though.

Heh, I've got a friend who thus far has been resisting Buffy, but has caught random episodes of Angel (from the sounds of it, season 5, since Spike's around and she knows who Fred is) and so borrowed my Angel season 1, though she hasn't gotten around to seeing much of it. She must have caught some season 4 or earlier though, because she's hating 1st-sesaon-Angel Cordy thus far and liked her better in some later shows she's seen. *BOGGLES!!!?!??!?*

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

My wife and I got into Buffy in S2. Can't remember the details, but we went from mostly-no-tv casual watchers at best to moving our schedules around so as not to miss the show within weeks. I was in grad school at the time, too, and didn't have very much free time.

We watched "Welcome to the Hellmouth" last night for the first time since buying the dvds back when they came out. Say, this Buffy show is awfully gripping!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I saw the movie and liked it, and tuned in to the premiere of the series to see if it would be as good. By the end of the show my jaw was hanging open. I turned to my boyfriend and said, "I've been waiting my whole life for this show!" He agreed. I've loved it all the way through, even when I didn't like it much.

The evil is this way?

I saw watched "Buffy" from the beginning. I remembered SMG from "All My Children" and thought I'd give the show a try. I was hooked. (Came for the soap star, stayed for the writing. And the acting. And the fights. But not for the snakes.) Did not discover the on-line community until the 2-3 seasons, which added to my enjoyment of the show.
