Fair enough. I can see how Innocence would be a bad introductory ep. Without any backstory, the Buffy angst is so much less meaningful. And I rather think it's over-the-top myself (though I love it SO much) but I think that's partly because until he's on Angel, I just don't care about Angel.

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.
My friend Niels cares little for Buffy, but several times he's insisted that we watch the "What does that do?" KABLOOEY! bit of Innocence. Like, 10 times in a row. It makes him laugh and laugh. I keep meaning to put it on loop and just record 10 minutes of that for him.
And then we watch the part where Angelus is all mean to Buffy, because I have the same reaction to "Love you, too. I'll call you."
I came to Buffy in season 3, and didn't really know DB could act at all, until I finally got to see season 2, and his switch from Angel to Angelus. I'm not saying he's Olivier or anything, but after coming to know Angel on season 3 of BtVS, it was a pleasant surprise.
Hey, the guy who played, let's see, Doyle's ex's fiance on Angel, the leader of the childnapping cult on Buffy and (I think) the son of the owner of the mudtown in Jayestown was on Psyche last night.
Well the first two were played by Carlos Jacott. Carlos played the Alliance operative who shot kaylee in the original Serenity (pilot).
Oh, that's right -- that's who I meant. I saw him and thought -- he's got to be the baddie. (But, really -- he's not that famous.)
Also, Psyche had a "Numbers" reference.

Heh, I read that as "the guy who played...Doyle's ex fiance" and went "Whoa! I don't remeber the show being THAT gay."
I'm rewatching as I'm introducing a friend to Angel, and I'd forgotten how quickly out of the gate it was more gay than some gay porn. Ah, sweet Doyle.
I had to rewind the "maybe I'm a little bit attracted" scene for the friend to highlight the coat flare. "Aren't you at least a little bit gay now?"
He's not, yet. But perhaps by the end of season 2.
If "Dead End" can't manage the job, he's unslashable.
By Tim, I think I can get him there. There are some things too big to fight.
