I've been rewatching too, but I am about half way through season 7. it's such a shame, really, because the season started so damn well, and then Sleeper and every episode after that happened.

One thing I was surprised at on rewatch is how quickly S2 happens. I don't know how, the first time around, I had totally committed to Angel so that I was freaked when he became Angelus. Now it seems abrupt. In my memory, Oz and Willow got together much later, and Jenny was around a lot longer.

I came to BtVS in season 3, and was surprised by how little Jenny there was in seasons 1 and 2, once I finally got to watch them.

Last summer, Scott and I set out to watch the entire run. We petered out mid-way through season 7, telling ourselves we needed a break, but never made it back. I have seasons of A:ts still in shrink wrap.

She was in more of Seasons 1 and 2 before Dawn. Once Dawn was introduced, the first 4 seasons were completely redone and a lot of Jenny's scenes were cut to make room for the Dawn scenes.

That reminds me of the fact that when Buffy: The Animated Series was last discussed, they were talking about setting it in high school, but with Dawn. Which I think is a cool idea.

I still REALLY want that show.

I noticed this too. I've noticed in other series as well, and always chalk it up to watching several eps in a row on DVD rather than waiting impatiently for a week between each ep. In BtVS and AtS, it may also be because I know what's coming.

I think this impacted my enjoyment of Babylon 5 quite a bit, too, and then there was no knowing what was coming, because I didn't see any of that when it aired.

I've noticed a similar effect when I've glommed a whole bunch of the same author's books in a short period - you start noticing tropes and themes and even word choice in a way that becomes really distracting. That happened to me with Jennifer Cruisie and it made things feel more formulaic than was probably the case.

Yes, I've noticed it with books too. I've had to stop reading works by certain authors that I adore, for this reason: Piers Anthony, Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCaffrey come to mind.
