'Objects In Space'

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I will say again that Wesley's introduction on Angel made me about fall off my couch, which just goes to show I should sit further back.

However, it wasn't the same sort of !!!... !!! moment as the pillow.

HSQ, in general, was less effective for me on BtVS. I think most of the things that would have seriously made me yelp happened in S2, when I was a much more casual viewer and not invested enough to care.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I want to say it's Giles's "I'd like to test that theory," but I knew he was coming back. I squeed, but I wasn't surprised.

see, THIS is why I avoid spoilers like the plague. there's nothing like the HSQ for something like that. I was watching with maybe 10 people, and we all SHRIEKED "GILES!" there were high fives and whatnot!! it wouldn't have been the same if I'd known. Plus, when I'm spoiled for something (by accident or because I don't care), I just wait for the spoliery bit to happen, then enjoy the show.

Because books.

I wasn't even spoiled for Giles's return, I just *knew* that he'd be coming back for the final episode. So while I still get a little racy thrill from hearing that line and seeing him in the doorway, there wasn't as much holy-shit! as there was there's-my-man!, you know?

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Angel: pillow; lawyerfest; Justine in the closet

Buffy: naked Angel; Giles killing Ben/Glory; dead Joyce

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Now that we've got the favorites, what was your LEAST favorite moment (HSQ or not) on Buffy and Angel?

Buffy - The cookie dough speech, bar none. That whole scene felt completely out of character for Angel, and I expected that Buffy would have been able to articulate her feelings a bit better at that point.

Angel - The flashbacks in TGiQ. Way to emasculate the Scourge of Europe.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I hated: going to Pylea after the most excellent S2. The idea that Angel and Cordelia were TWU WUV. The champion idea.

The stuff I hated about Buffy was more slow burn and building irritation. The Angel botheration was WHY HAVE YOU FUCKED ME SO??? WHERE IS MY LUBE???

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

For Buffy, I guess the question excludes answers like "what in general did you hate about the show." So I will say the sex at the dumpster in Doublemeat Palace. I already hated Spike, I hated the fact that they had a sexual relationship, and this bad sex humiliation just makes me cringe.

Because books.

For Buffy, sadly, I'd have to say most of S7.

On Angel, one of them was the Rat Pack reference in The House Always Wins, because continuity? Not so much.

Also truly, truly hated Cordelia's descent into St. Cordy, and the Angel/Cordy love (shudder).

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Least favorite Buffy: S5 arc getting Riley off the show. Xander's speech being an actual moment of feeling very disconnected and "Are we supposed to think he's right?"

Least favorite Angel: Ascended Cordy looking down from the Heavens in white. Feh. One moment to sum up my entire dissatisfaction with that storyline (though I'm also very sure that story was driven by meta issues).

HSQ Angel: Drusilla vamping Darla. Just the way she glided in, silent, horrible, beautiful.

HSQ Buffy: I was spoiled for so much...Hmmm. I knew the plot moments including Giles comeback, so it was more the lines of dialogue that made me go Whoa. Like when Willow challenged Giles (before going evil) that was a huge turning point for her character.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Least favorite for Angel is hands down St Cordy, followed by the champion thing and this:

Angel - The flashbacks in TGiQ. Way to emasculate the Scourge of Europe.

Buffy, I would have to say PodGiles and the potentials and speechifying in S7.
