Lydia: Its removal from Burma is a felony and when triggered it has the power to melt human eyeballs. Giles: In that case I've severely underpriced it.

'Potential'

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Not based on the pilot.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Not based on the pilot.

The pilot isn't very good or it doesn't follow the books?

Oh honey, the mentally unwell people have been in the fanbase since Game Changers was Stucky fanfiction on the internet. The calls have been coming from inside the house the whole time!

I've heard it stinks worse than circa 1995 rat-eating Angel must have.

What is even happening?

I've heard it stinks worse than circa 1995 rat-eating Angel must have.
Well, I'm glad for David. It looks like he'll have a huge, long running hit series on FOX, then.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Well, that's a shame. The books are pretty decent. Not great, but entertaining. Reichs does go on at length on some of the forensics/science stuff that I tend to skim, but the character development is good and Temperance is a likeable, smart lead.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

In the previews, DB is looking and sounding mighty smarmy.

It made me realise how much I was taking for granted with The Inside. I mean, we have a woman who has difficulty relating to others, who's had a huge trauma as a kid, and is devoting their life to solving issues relating to death and crime.

But completely uninteresting. Yeah, I bitched about Rebecca's blank affect. This isn't that. This is ... plasticky. The writing's not tight, the suspense non-existent.

Just not good.

Didn't work for Point Pleasant.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

In the previews, DB is looking and sounding mighty smarmy.

Totally. The books have a much more serious tone, IIRC.

Oh, and now seems the time to ask. The Tivo Newsletter seems to believe that Monk is a spinoff of CSI. Can somebody tell me they're craxy before my head explodes?

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Big-time craxy.

The book character that, I believe, DB's character is based on is pretty arrogant, but he can be charming, too. He's a detective trying to woo Temperance, but she's very skittish (been hurt, blah blah blah). So, he's trying to woo without becoming too overpowering. One of the things I like about the book character is that he's not all schmoopy with her. Arrogant? Oh yeah. Smarmy? Not.
