Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

What is even happening?

It was on the threaded side of the Bronze, ChiKat. I was already lurking at the linear side (which is what most, if not all, Buffistas are talking about, when they refer to the Bronze).

GILES!!!!!!!!!
I scared my cat by actually screaming that out loud.
My husband accidentally hit the stop button on the VCR, while we were recording--right at the GILES!!!!!!!!!!! moment. I had to work very hard to remember marriage is more important than a TV show. Fortunately, my Bronzer friend white wings (who lurks sometimes, hi white wings) took pity on us, sent me a tape of both.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Unfortunately, unless you were really going out of your way to avoid spoilers, it was pretty common knowledge at that point that Angel was in the early planning stages,

If you were already online by that point. I would imagine the large majority of watchers hadn't adopted online fandom in 1998, and it's easy to avoid that kind of information if you're not in fandom.

Yes. She might still post at Bishop's copy of the threaded Bronze. I haven't been there in an age. I think she might have changed her Bronzer name to Fading Away. I don't know her well, but I remember her. The threaded Bronzers were, in general, very young. There were adults there, too, but sometimes, it was hard to tell. Around the time Monique started posting the Dawn FAQ (she linked it at the Threaded Bronze as well), I decided to delurk at the linear.

The Linear Bronze intimidated me. Also, some of it put me off--the famlet stuff, and the Fifth Disease Game, etc. Once I got the lay of the land, I was so much happier there, until Ge* found his way over, at least.

she mentioned that she posts at the Alt board still on occasion. is that Bishop's board? she writes some amazing VM fic.

I never got the appeal of threaded. it was too much like chaos over there. i remember when i first got the internet i went to buffy.com and was so confused by the linear board that i never went back. the only reason i started posting was because janni was telling all of us at ck.net how much fun it was and that we needed to go post if we were planning on going to the PBP.

ge*. there's someone i haven't thought of in a while. he was quite a piece of work, wasn't he?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I was at the Somervillian viewing party for the S6 finale. It was the "GILES!!!!!" heard round the world, or at least the block. An awesome moment.

Actually, I think it was TV guide that spoiled me for that. And it was definitely before the Becomings aired. I don't think I was even lurking on TT at that point, but when I played catch up on the old threads, there seemed to be an awareness of it back in the day.

Yes. And actually, the last I knew, he now had two. One is a carbon copy of Apollo's threaded. One is a more conventional bulletin board that uses IBB or whatever package that is that Vanessa's board uses.

I just couldn't figure out the linear. Buffy.com was the first place I ever went online, so I was figuring out everything at the same time. I cringe when I remember some of my first (far too eager) posts at the linear. And I didn't know HTML, so even though I knew caps were shouting, I wasn't sure how people would see their names, if I didn't bold them. I didn't know people did control+F. I remember posting something like:

ALLYSON ALLYSON ALLYSON

and then my text, which might have been either about complaining to Apollo about trolls, or asking her about quitting smoking. I'm lucky she didn't kill me.

gotcha.

I had been involved in chat rooms. so i was used to everything scrolling top to bottom not vice versa. i didn't know html either. janni taught me that too. janni really was like a protective mother to all of the kanies.

I'm lucky she didn't kill me

ha! my first foray was people talking of speed*s.
