is if Angel shows up as a woman with huge ta-tas and tight -t-shirts
This confused me for a hot second, because... Angel/Boreanaz. Very disconcerting. Then I remembered the actual Rockford Files.
I dunno, man. My love for Jim Rockford original recipe runs pretty deep. We'll see.
Also, one of the best TV show theme songs.
I associate The Rockford Files so completely with James Garner's charm and the vibe of 70s California, I can't imagine anyone doing well in a modern remake.
I just want to know who's going to play Mariette Hartley in the inevitable Polaroid ads. I'm also not sure why I immediately thought of Stana Katic rather than Emily Deschanel (probably for the same reason I briefly thought Boreanaz was Canadian -- I seem to have mentally jumbled my Whedon-series leads.)
This episode of free-association brought to you by memories of watching whimsical camera commercials with my mother at a formative age and asking "Is that Mrs Rockford?"
Fillion would make a much better Rockford. He's got the easy charm and the edge underneath.
I wonder if they'll keep Rockford's car getting destroyed in one episode and then inexplicably fine the next. (I don't remember how many times that actually happened on the original show but I definitely remember it happening.)
I'd forgotten how much heavy lifting
Flooded
does in setting up the rest of S6. You've got Buffy hanging on by her last emotional thread, Willow's deep-rooted insecurity rapidly becoming dangerous instead of cute, introduction of The Trio...it's a lot for an ep I mostly remember for No! More! Full! Copper! Repipe!
(This is also the ep when Angel finds out Buffy is alive again and they reconnect offscreen between episodes, and so one of the few times in the seasons when watching in broadcast order would have made more sense, but oh well.)
Aeryn likes the Trio, thinks they're funny. We'll see how long that lasts.
You will all be shocked and amazed to know that OMWF still absolutely fucking rocks.
(Except the bit where homophobia saves the day at the end. That was a stupid twist the first time around and really hasn't aged well.)
Aeryn on Willow's general allergy to accountability:
"But have you also considered that she is tiny and cute and nothing bad should ever happen to her?"
