And there's a Buffy reboot in the works (reboot of the remake variety, not a sequel or prequel).
I'm against it.
Things I am for about it -- while Joss would be an EP, Monica Owusu-Breen [link] would be showrunner and the lead slayer would be black.
I'm into all those parts except the remake part. Make it a sequel. Make it a prequel (with Nikki Wood in 1970s NYC). (Actually, I think I'd prefer a sequel. And I'm parenthesying myself to death)

Sure. They don't even have it cast yet, and no network is attached. Even if they shoot a pilot, there are no guarantees, but I still feel oddly bothered, which is dumb. It's not like I'd have to watch (but I would a little, at least at first).
Do you all think they could do a sequel? I'd love to see that. With more slayers in the world, it could be fresh, some new rules, rather than just a retread with updated dialogue, hair, wardrobe, and the addition of cell phones.
(If the apocalypse comes, beep me.)

Yeah, I think I said that. At least I meant to. I am all in for a black slayer and the showrunner is a woman of color. Those things are great. Remaking Buffy isn't.

I feel the same. It's too soon for a full-on remake. Revisiting the setting with a continuation, a prequel, or unrelated stories playing in the same sandbox would be just fine. But I'm not ready for an actual Buffy TV show where it's not SMG and Tony Head as those characters.

Here's how they could make it work -- Scene of black woman in labor with a chiron that says "2003". Cut to flashback scene of the spell/Buffy's speech from "Chosen". As the spell hits, the baby is born. They give the baby to the mom, and say "What's her name?" Mom says "Buffy".
Cut to scene of young black woman getting out of the car in front of a college dorm in Cleveland with a chiron that says "present day". Mom from before (with some age lines and a grey wig) also gets out of the car.
And voila! New Buffy in college on a hellmouth!
