I have discovered it is hard to watch and post without commercials, but my streaming was disrupted! Nick Brendon looks SO YOUNG in the credits. The others have aged since, but he looks younger in the credits than I remember him in Season 5, 6, & 7! And SMG is so pretty-- I remember wondering at the time why everyone thought she was so attractive. Also Riley's hair is awful.
ETA: If this gets annoying please let me know!!!
I don't think I saw the beginning the first time I watched this- it was my first episode and I was channel switching. It somehow reminds me of Thanksgiving.
I was caught by Tara's back, for real-- that's why I watched the show. And there were red curtains, like Twin Peaks.
I adore Willow's drama dream- Tara seems so mysterious- I remember thinking this was foreshadowing for Tara, but really it is for Willow. It plays on a double level- everyone know that Willow is just the softer side of Sears, and is laughing at her, but it also plays with the rest of her arc--- from being "very seldom naughty" to facing her inner power and darkness, to ultimately controlling it. That resonated with me, because I too, was very seldom naughty and fekt that no one knew what Iu was capable of inside. It was of course derailed by the actual drugs and car crash, but they brought it back around. As a middle aged person, Willow resonates with me less, but her bad side is sort of still my bad side.
Also, when she gets bitten, the effects look very dark willow.
So-- Xander's dream-- it is complicated-- dealing with manhood- is he a conquistador or a comfotador? or neither. What is manhood- is it being a soldier or a watcher or the heart. He really can't be the comfortdator until he stops objectifying every woman in his dream (although his interaction with Buffy is non-sexual in a very final way (big brother). Also-- he can;t escape the basement until he escapes the basement. I think Wash is a much better realized idea of Xander.
OK- moved on to OMWF- I just loved how the costumes became "musical" costumes and still kept their feel. I am particularly in love with Xander/Tara and Anya Willow colr coordination in the end.
Also- time is what turns kittens into cats!!!!
Today, I took a deep dive (with an epic picspam recap) on the 20th anniversary of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series premiere. For work. For pay? What?
Please take a look back with me. If you enjoy, please tweet it out to the aether. [link]
Buffy is leaving Netflix at the end of the month.
I did not know this. I have the DVDs, but still, I like my Buffy accessible. Thanks for the heads up, Scola.
Now the question remains, can I mainline 142* episodes of BtVS in one month? Challenge accepted!
- I know there are 144 total, but I watched WTTH and TH, today, for the anniversary and while I was crafting the picspam recap.
did no one say Double Meat Palace for worst ep?
I want to say Trio was the one I hated most at the time of airing. But my tape of Doublemeat Palace messed up and I've never felt the need to obtain a replacement for a rewatch in 15 years.
I have started a rewatch at S. 5. I was doing okay coping with Dawn and Capt. Cardboard but then Ben came on the scene. Sigh. I forgot about him.
