I never watched any of Hartnell's or Troughton's episodes, but I did like Troughton in The Two Doctors, with Colin Baker. The way he turned into a glutton and took on the restaurants of Seville was delightful (although I wish that JN-T could have gotten the funding to go to New Orleans for the episode, like he originally planned).
'Serenity'
Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
the depressing news that Scifi's best ratings EVER were for the wrestling that they showed this week
Euch. This is depressing. I mean, I've got nothing against people watching wrestling, but I don't want it to eat up my Sci-fi time. Even my cheesy-ass Mansquito sci-fi time. I'm selfish like that.
With a lookalike standing in for Hartnell.
Which was an all-time casting coup rivalling that of getting Shelly Duvall to play Olive Oyl in Popeye. Richard Hurndall was so spot-on in his imitation of Hartnell that it seriously spooked Carol Ann Ford, the actress who'd played the Doctor's granddaughter Susan.
And Baker's too old to look at all like the character.
Both Bakers. Colin got old and fat, Tom just got old.
Seriously, the only three Doctors still able to play the part looking roughly the right ballpark are Eight, Nine and Ten. Of course, it's genius that all the characters live on in the audio plays.
Oddly, Sylvester McCoy is the same age as Colin Baker.
In other, Doctor Who news, I'm planning on getting the DVDs. But I was wondering, does anyone know if the DVDs that go on sale in the US will have the three minutes per epidsode that were cut for the US SciFi broadcast?
From a couple of days ago, but region 1 DVD's are available at amazon.ca, but they are pricey!
The MI-5 dvds released with the extra footage so I assume that the Dr Who dvds will be the same. It was interesting to see the extra footage in the MI-5 dvds, because it was mostly little character stuff, but it showed that some of the character stuff that A&E showed wasn't as random as it seemed.
Man. I just watched "The Parting of the Ways" again, and it _still_ stomped on my heart and made me sniffly. For epic sweep and emotional tragedy and power, it kicked BSG's blue-tinted ass all over space.
Eccleston done good.
RTD does a better Buffy than Buffy.

Yep. A friend of mine ordered them, and has been playing the Behind the Scenes stuff after we watch the episode on SciFi. They're lovely, but I was cheap enough to want to wait for the US release (especially with Amazon.com offering them at $30 off.) But thanks for the info!
Eccleston done good.
He really did. He supplanted Four in my heart really early on in his season.
