Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I saw S1 in order. I think The Empty Child pins the creep meter; Aliens wasn't as creepy for me, it was standard sci-fi villainy.
I've been taking the episodes as served by SciFi, but it's going to be hard not to ahem this weekend. Since DH will be in Nebraska for his niece's graduation next Friday, I really wouldn't be a good wife if I didn't provide him the 2nd part. I know I can count on you to encourage me to do my wifely duty here.
honestly, i would ahem the episodes anyway because sci-fi is cutting things out of the eps. nothing drastic, but i hate anything being cut.
Has there been any word on whether the DVD version will be the US or UK cut?
Oh I hate cuts. Still bitter about the FX butchery of Buffy.
I bet it'll be the full UK cut, Debet.
SciFi is cutting out some important character moments; in particular, in "The Unquiet Dead", they cut out the Doctor being startled by Rose in the red dress and blurting out "You look beautiful!" or words to that effect.
Brrrrr—"The Empty Child" was tres creepy. I'm sort of sad that this show is so relentlessly [pseudo]science-based, as I'm sure they're going to explain it as runaway nanites that imprinted on the first person they encountered or somesuch. It'd be better if there was room for the supernatural/unknown and the nature of the contagion was never explained at all.
Not telling
With Doctor Who, it's more about the story than the science. It was orignally meant to be a children's show, but they do write for adults as well. Even moreso wth the current seasons.
