I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Oh, now I'm gonna have to go through yesterday's SG-1 on the Tivo tonight in order to find CJ talking about Jack and Teal'c getting married. Just so that I can laugh and laugh.

Hmmmm, serially posting today: Smallville facing a suit for copyright infringement.

It's been on for five years -- and they only noticed in 2004?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

No, WB held the Superboy copyright until 2004, when it reverted to the original creator's estate; only the eps produced since then are in dispute.

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

Plus Warner Brothers has been fighting this, well, since forever. Until recently it looked like they had the upper hand.

When the latest copyright extension went through, there was a clause for creators to regain the rights to stuff that had signed away. Siegel's estate made a grab for it, but no one really expected them to succeed. A few other creators made a similar plays and they were either shot down or given an undisclosed sum to go away, which they took probably because MNC have deeper pockets for lawyers than most creators. This is the furtherest any of these lawsuits have gone, and Warner has already launched it's appeals assualt.

Thanks for the extra juicy details, CaBil (and good to post with you -- it's been too long!). I've caught references to the story here and there, but without a lot of background.
