Angel: Connor, this is Spike and Illyria. Guys, this is Connor. Connor: Hi. umm...I like your outfit. Illyria: Your body warms. This one is lusting after me. Connor: Oh...no, I--I--it's just that it's the outfit. I guess I've had a thing for older women. Angel: They were supposed to fix that.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I really wish they'd go against the trope and decide to have Vala's baby NOT prematurely age into demographically attractive young adulthood. Imagine the image of armed hordes of zealots chanting "hallowed are the Ori" at the urging of a newborn in a hoodie. Talk about your miracle babies...

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I love love love Vince Ventresca. Sexy sexy man. When, oh when, will I-Man come out on DVD?

Ventresca is two years younger than me. Summer Glau is playing his daughter. This is one of those OMG-I-grew-up moments.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I think it did come out on DVD, except it was in England or something.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, it's out on Region 2.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The first one was all right, given that it was essentially a pilot. The second one I couldn't sit through.

I think "The End of the World" is probably the worst episode, so keep trucking. I think you'll like the next one more, and it starts getting better and better from there.

I also agree that Nine is creepy in a cool way. He's pumped full of danger. It leads to an awesome moment in "Bad Wolf," when he scares the fuck out of the Daleks by declaring that he has NO FUCKING IDEA what he's going to do, and therefore, NEITHER DO THEY.

So question for the ranks, the current Dr Who showing on SciFi, too scary for a 10 year old? He enjoyed the first two on Friday, so I told him I'd Tivo them for him, but reading the white font has me just a little worried.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

too scary for a 10 year old?

Definitely.

One or two episodes might be considered too scary period.

If I only had a brain...

Doctor Who is out on DVD in Canada, which is Region 1, and can be ordered from amazon.ca. Spendy, though.

If I only had a brain...

Dawn, I would expect certain episodes ("World War III" and "The Empty Child") to scare the hell out of any kid. We're talking "The Gentlemen" level of horror.

What I used to do back in the Buffy days (sob!) was pre-watch all episodes after the kids' bedtimes, and then rewatch with them if the episode passed muster. Doctor Who is good enough that the rewatch won't be a chore.

too scary for a 10 year old?

Definitely the "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" would be. I mean, I was well and thoroughly creeped out by those. Loved them as eps (probably my favorites), but... creeeepeeeee. And I would think especially for a kid since it's the kid in the show that's the creepiest .
