Lorne: My little prince. Oh…what did they do to you? Angel: Nina…tried to…eat me. Lorne: Oh, you're--medic! You're gonna make it Angel. Just don't stop fighting. Doctor! Is there a Gepetto in the house?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I knew about the stop-eject thing (I think Jon mentioned it), but it's still the world's worst remote.

Art Crawl!!!

I'm sad that I'm not going to be able to watch and post tonight.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Well, my old Phillips remote actually opened the tray if you held down the 1 key, I think. In any case, it was actually labeled on the remote Open or Eject or something by that key.

When I got my new Phillips (because my old one displayed in pink when I connected the component outputs and it was still under warranty, but no longer made) I tried doing the same thing, but it didn't work. I don't recall what made me think of holding down the stop button, but I was happy it achieved the desired effect.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm not either -- I'll be at my sister's show. And tonight's is SO GOOD, too.

All is well that ends in pizza.

My DVD player (Cyberhome CH-DVD 320) has no universal remote code.

That's gotta rank up there with the stupidity.

From the Cyberhome site:

Sorry, CyberHome DVD Players are not designed for Universal Remote Controllers. There are no codes added to any available Universal Remotes that are compatible with CyberHome DVD Players. Consequently, CyberHome DVD Players cannot be operated by Universal Remote Controls.

for $9.95 + shipping they will sell you a new one. [link]

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

it's still the world's worst remote.

Mine won't pause or fast-forward/rewind without skipping to the beginning of a chapter. Also, if you've paused it on the machine, you can't then unpause it with the remot.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I have to whack mine on something solid before it works. I don't think that's part of the design, though.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just downloaded a manual, and there's some completely non-intuitive functionality hidden on that thing. But mostly I'd ask for a good remote design to let me use it with my eyes closed, at least for the big stuff. This fails horribly. Even looking at it, I get the wrong buttons too often.

Ah, that's the wonder machine play-anything that everyone wanted to buy, including me. Pity about the remote.
