Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I meant with the fork-lift scenario.
Argh. Now I've got the MST3K Fugitive Alien song in my head.

Bombs were a part of the plot of the introductory miniseries, IIRC. Of course, because they were wielded by the bad guys, they failed in their objective.

I'm not totally sure what you're referring to. In "Litmus," Doral blew himself up real good, along with several other people. Given the terrorism anvils in that episode, it seemed like the objective there was to increase fear and paranoia. And that it worked pretty well.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A show All About Vulcans wouldn't be very entertaining.

Unless it was a sitcom about a group of Vulcans who are stuck in a constant state of Pon Farr.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

it was done in such a way that the person doing the assassination didn't get caught

What's wrong with the assassin getting caught?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

My memory is vague, I guess. I was under the impression that there were supposed to be people blown up (I mean, people who matter to the show).

What's wrong with the assassin getting caught?

Probably nothing, unless you're the assassin. Or anybody associated with her, especially if she fails. Those dudes in jail are gonna be toast if Michelle Forbes survives the attempt, to say nothing of Lee and probably Doctor Craxxy. Which means the attempt has to succeed, right? The rules of scriptwriting say it must.

Which is why I thought it was a weird objection.

If the failed assassination was one that hides the hand but not the brain of the killing, every Galactite on Pegasus is just as toast as if they see Kara raising the gun herself.

Which, from the trailer, it doesn't quite look like.

True. Better to find a Lee Harvey Oswald figure. Blame it all on the beefy XO (who reminds me a great deal of J. T. Walsh), or on the Practically Invisible Sebastian Spence. Or -- actually, we've only met like three people in that crew, haven't we? Three people and a thousand redshirts.

Galactite

Ha! What are the Pegasus people called? Wingers?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

The thing is, though, the possible sacrifice of Kara seems like a high price to pay (although she might be seen as working rogue, in the LHO model, since she's not completely gotten along with anyone, thus hiding the brain behind the assassination), as she is a very valuable crew-member. However, Adama's logic may be that it can't really be anyone else.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

No one else would be able to get close enough to Cain, right?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Something along those lines.

If I only had a brain...

Lee Harvey Oswald figure.

You can probably get one from Archie McPhee.
