Hulk

I probably will. Here's a [link] to a trailer if anyone misremembers which version of the Hulk this is.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So I just downloaded S1 of Farscape because one episode a week just wasn't enough.

"DNA Mad Scientist" last night, which had a lot of good points. I was surprised by the lack of hesitation or deliberation in cutting off Pilot's arm, so I'm glad that it was, you know, an actual Issue. I'm not sure that the Issue wasn't lessened a bit by the fact that Pilot could grow another arm back easily enough.

I thought Aeryn's angst about not being able to go back home (which, hasn't she complained about it like thirty thousand times before?) was laid on a little thick, but I liked the new spin to it. Not, like, they won't let her back into their little club, but it's the only world she's ever known, and she's lost outside it.

Oh, the whole Zhaan/D'Argo/Rygel dynamic was great. I actually liked Rygel in this episode. And dear God, Zhaan will sex up ANYTHING, won't she? I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT RYGEL'S NAUGHTY BITS.

Pilot is totally awesome.

And I just watched "They've Got a Secret." Holy crap. D'Argo angst up the wazoo. He married a Peacekeeper ? Criminy. And I guess being framed for that murder was what got him on Moya in the first place? I still don't understand why he started having these schizophrenic flashbacks, but I guess I'm supposed to attribute it to his near-death experience. I like D'Argo much more than I did at first, which is what DebetEsse said would happen.

The DRDs! Attacking! Cooool.

Oh, as soon as Aeryn was like, "Oh, I figured out the controls," I was thinking, "Ha, it's 'cause she had Pilot's DNA." And then Crichton went ahead and said it, and I know this is going to be just like Xander's military knowledge that comes and goes when it's convenient.

Moya's pregnant! I was spoiled for the fact that she has a child because of a description of an S2 episode, but I had no idea she became pregnant this early. So I still thought it was cool that she was trying to kill them all for whatever reason. I wonder who the father is. Some mighty seed got through the Sebacean birth control.

I'm kind of impressed by how layered most of the characters are already. It's like, they're on a ship, and they can't really do much in the way of plot, so let's just throw in some character development, and that should be enough.

I'm really liking the show now, and I'm close to loving it. I'm not sure whether it's too early for that because S1's not supposed to be good and I'm supposed to wait for S2, but I was biased to like it anyway, and I must be easy to please.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Yeah, but I'm not sure A) They knew that or B) They asked

it's the only world she's ever known, and she's lost outside it.

I think a lot of Aeryn's motivation comes from fear, even though she's very much of the not-showing-it

I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT RYGEL'S NAUGHTY BITS.

I'm sure you're getting tired of hearing this, but I'm totally biting my tongue right now.

Pilot is totally awesome.

Word to the nth

IIRC, nsm.

I'm supposed to attribute it to his near-death experience.

Best wank I can come up with. Or some sort of reaction to the...Leviathan sperm. Which is a phrase I hope never to type again.

Well, continuity has started kicking in, so you're pretty much on schedule. My relationship to the show was odd, sequentially, but I think any time at or after That Old Black Magic is perfectly cromulent.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Best wank I can come up with. Or some sort of reaction to the...Leviathan sperm.

I think I broke something laughing at that wank.

What Debet said. First half of season 1 was hit or miss; second half was when they started hitting more of their cylinders. There are points during season 2 where you're going to think that they're finally running on all cylinders. You'll be mistaken.

Sadly, someone throws sugar in the gas tank in season 4. However, the rebuilt engine they got for the mini series was pretty sweet.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

driving a metaphor into the ground

More like into a tree.

Or like after all the oil has leaked out of the crankcase and the the engine seizes up....

ION, will the ScFi Channel's The Triangle suck? Or will it suck lots and lots?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I think the question is "Will it suck in entertaining ways or in terribly dull ones?"

But, then, I enjoyed Frankenfish lots and lots

I don't know - does a SciFi original programming movie have to have some sort of monster or human/animal hybrid in order to suck in entertaining ways?

Eh - if I'm bored and not doing anything, maybe I'll find out.

ION, the romance stuff on Hulk is so badly written.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ang would have been better served to make a movie not part of a long-running comic book franchise.

I think he's an amazing director, one of my favourites, and you know damned few people, even if they liked the movie, were fist-pumping "That's my Hulk! That's my man!" with parallel enthusiasm, say, to my reaction to Batman Begins. Even if the movie hadn't sucked, I can't see it tapping into what makes comic book readers love the comic. He's never struck me as that sort of director.

When I'm being extra-nice I decide that it's being hampered by canon and pop culture and medium-grade iconicity that helps the movie to be bad.
