If I only had a brain...

If I pick only one, do I want Stargate SG-1 or Battlestar Galactica?

Our wings are not tired.

SG-1 has proven itself to me. BSG is promising, but I'm not in love yet.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Do you prefer relentlessly grim (BSG), or lighter fare (SG-1)?

Remember that Ben Browder joins the cast of SG-1 next year, and Claudia Black will be recurring.

Pick one to start watching, you mean? Depends on what you're looking for. Off the top of my head, I'd offer:

SG-1:

Jack

Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's sort of touching, and often it's interesting.

Lighter fair - not risky or edgy.

You really have to commit to get through the unevenness that is Season 1 (but a couple of the eps are among my favorites. Also, there will be more unevenness, but it's glaring in S1).

Must be willing to handwave often, and lose the w-h-y word a lot (this might be the case for BSG, too, but not too bad so far. Except for the glowy spine thing. Well, OK, and some other things).

Odd costuming choices

The odd costuming choices are more than made up for by the black T-shirt and Tanks of Rowrrr from time to time.

The team is just... well, love.

I adore it.

And to close: Jack

(P.S. Ben Browder in S9, which just kind of has to be a plus)

BSG:

Tighter (but, there are only 13 eps so far, so tighter is a bit easier, I guess)

Dark, tense

Better music, and more visually interesting so far.

There's the getting in on the ground floor aspect, if that means anything.

But no Team of Awesomeness.

Hard to say what with only 13 eps, but I thought the 13 ep run was well done.

I suspect I will continue to love it.

(If I had to give up one for the other, BSG would be gone. I ♥ SG-1, and I can get my dark on elsewhere. But I love having this new, dark, interesting BSG thing to watch, too.)

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Okay, so this Battlestar Galactica thing? This isn't just darker fare, this is fucking depressing.

Our wings are not tired.

The balance on SG-1 is more my thing. Although having the president named after me was a nice tough for BSG.

BSG is darker, but a bit incomprehensible for me. I like enough of it that I'm not going anywhere.

But I really look forward to SG-1 while I watch BSG when I get a chance.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

that's what makes it so great! anybody could do upbeat Sci-Fi, it's a real challenge to keep people coming back for the dark.

This isn't just darker fare, this is fucking depressing.

If I recall, there's some twisted stuff in this ep. Yep.

The visuals are wonderful, but I don't care about a single character on BSG (well, maybe Starbuck), and the entire Caprica subplot seems a waste of time.

Apollo and Baltar needs to be thrown out the airlock.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Apollo and Baltar needs to be thrown out the airlock.

Hey! There will be no spacing of the hotness!
