A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
OMG, they just introduced Commander Adama at the World Series, and I had this brief moment of panic that he was going to sing the Star Spangled Banner.
Fortunately, he's only introducing the all-Latino legends baseball team.
Did he do the "So say we all!" thing?
Well, he's always been kind of a jerk. Arrogant and self-absorbed, yup, but idealistic too. However in the beginning he had floppy hair and they put him in jackets that were too big for him. And Shanks didn't have The Biceps yet. And he died a lot.
... actually, he still does that.
Yeah - he used to defend himself with ideas and principles, firing words when others were firing zats and AKs. He's a lot more all-round capable now, and probably needs the good shag for a different reason.
I've been through PolyRecs too, though not BSO or Barkley's yet. Though I read My First Stargate Story, and now it's really hard to not see every Jack/Daniel story like that. I'm less in favor of the Woobie!Daniel and more in favor of Competent'n'Snarky!Daniel.
Now I guess I just have to start watching the show! Ahh, slash, you are a gateway drug.
Yeah - he used to defend himself with ideas and principles, firing words when others were firing zats and AKs.
Well, he used a gun and a staff weapon in the movie, and fired guns quite a few times in the first season (although usually a handgun instead of the... guns which are not P90s that they used to use). I feel obliged to point this out because there is a faction that seems to think he was once a pacifist. Social scientists aren't all wooly-thinking liberals with no spines.

Me too, frankly. I find competence attractive, and my favorite Daniel to write reads pretty competent. But I like Jack a lot more than Daniel, anyway: Daniel's not my shiny object, even though I end up writing him a lot.

He wasn't a pacifist, but he was an idea man more than any of the rest. Gritty reality still isn't his strong suit, but the fuzzy edges have worn off.
Oh, sure. He was more of the talking guy than the shooting guy. Still is, unless we're talking about, say, Anubis or any of his friends and relations. Goa'ulds in general, say.
Are there any eps in Stargate Atlantis that are particularly slashy for Sheppard/Mckay?
"Hide and Seek" in the first season was probably the start of the subtext, although I think it's strongest in "Sanctuary" even if it's roundabout and one-sided there. I've yet to hear a convincing argument for why McKay took such a strong interest in Sheppard's flirtation with Chaya and correspondingly strong dislike for her that doesn't involve jealousy.
