Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I mentioned in the movies thread that I went to a special screening of a Bruce Campbell movie connected to his book tour. Before the movie he talked about making it. It was produce by SciFi and I have already seen previews for it on the channel. the movie is called "the man with the screaming brain".

Anyway, he said all of SciFi's movies are filmed in Romania. No matter where they are set, that is where they are filmed. So, he took his script that was set in LA and rewrote it for Romania just so it wouldn't look as stupid as thier other movies do. The movie looks pretty stupid anyway, but Campbell's explanation was hilarious.

Thrive to spite them

Dad and I watched AVP this weekend, being broke I could only offer him a movie rental and dessert. He wanted to rent something called Alien 3000, but I talked him into Alien V Predator. Sunday when I was doing around listened to the commentary (there are two) with the director, Lance Henrikson, and whatshername the girl.

The director explained that it was filmed in Prague because it was so much cheaper. He gave cost for the sets in LA. Vancouver, a couple of other places and Prauge. Prauge cost $3 million which was a savings of like $15 million compared to LA (I think).

I also learned that the guy who played the main Predator is 7'1" tall and they couldnt' find anyone close to his height, so the other two Predator actors are only 6'something so in the full body shots they had to make it look like the other two were standing way behind the tall guy.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

I also learned that the guy who played the main Predator is 7'1" tall and they couldnt' find anyone close to his height,

That's insane. While there aren't a huge number of people who are over 7', they could have called up the roster of any NBA team and found a couple of guys off the end of the bench to do it. Greg Ostertag comes to mind, after his star turn in Eddie. Hell, they could have called me, and I would have lent them my 16 year old, who is 6'9".

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It looks like the Bruce Campbell movie also features a lot of Ted Raimi (from the preview, anyway), so I'm onboard for it, much to my surprise.

Thrive to spite them

Gandalfe, I think they were just looking in Europe and weren't just looking for someone who was tall, but someone who would look good being a predator.

The guy they got for the main Predator (they call him Scar) was a huge Predator fan and study both Predator movies to get all the moves right and get in the mindset of the character.

Also, the big explosion at the end was so big that a plane flying over head reported it.

There's another commentary with some of the special effects guys and I'd like to watch that at some point.

Ever fired your gun in the air and yelled, 'Aaaaaaah?'

I went to the Bruce Campbell book signing when he was in Tampa. I bought 2 tickets for "Man with a Screaming Brain" but a massive headache made me leave right after I got my book signed. Also, he sat on a stage and everyone went up to him one by one to get their book signed. This caused massive stage fright for me so when I finally got up there I could only mumble, not look at him, and quickly get off before I had a panic attack. Sigh. At least I ran into an old high school classmate and saw the Tampa Theater. It is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever been in.

If I only had a brain...

I watched Home Part 1 last night, and I think I saw Lee have his Xander moment, when he kissed Kara. He was going "Oh, my one true love, you are safe" and she was reacting "Huh? I'm busy!"

I think he has emotionally committed to her just after she has emotionally committed to somebody else. Whether he likes it or not, he's stuck as the sibling now.

Thoughts?
