We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

This is exactly the guy Daniel is.

Pretty much. He tries, you know, but they give him these terribly earnest speeches, and it just, you know, never ends well.

I actually enjoyed the episode, because it had Claudia. And Teal'c looked positively horrified at Vala. And I liked that they utterly failed in protecting the citizens of unnamed planet number 238. And we got at least one lovely scene with just Cam and Vala in the mess.

But it felt like it was badly edited. WHY was Teal'c back? Since he left last episode? And how did Mitchell get sick when they'd just spent a few minutes explaining that none of SG-1 (ish) were getting sick but they didn't know why?

And didn't anyone tell Daniel and Vala that guns don't work on Priors?

I suspect Daniel needs to talk to Oma. Or Sam needs to hail Orlin, or something, and get some advice about the Orii. Because the Tau'ri are kinda fucked.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

*sigh* I always like the earnest ones. Even when they're evil--see also Six.

I suspect Daniel needs to talk to Oma. Or Sam needs to hail Orlin, or something, and get some advice about the Orii. Because the Tau'ri are kinda fucked.

Oma's off having an eternal battle with Anubis, though, isn't she? So she's unavailable. You'd think Daniel could track down a nice mildly-interferey Ancient somewhere, though. Hell, drop a note to Atlantis and get them to go ask Chaya if she's got any suggestions.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Oddly, DH was way more wigged by the farm than I was.

I think the reason I wasn't more wigged by the farm was because practically every sci-fi-verse has a room like that. It was very well presented here, but my reaction was less Horror! At!The!Very!Thought! and more "Oh, this is the Humans Being Used As Incubators Room."

WHY was Teal'c back?

Oh good, so that wasn't just me being a new viewer? I felt like we'd missed and ep, or at least a scene. (As a new viewer, I assumed Teal'c just follows Daniel around everywhere no matter what.)

If they're going to have Vala keep interacting with Mitchell, they need to give him a character, stat. He's not playing Chricton, but he's not playing anyone else either, so my brain automatically fills in the blank with Chricton anyway, much moreso when CB is in frame.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Where might I have seen that Cylon Doctor before? He looks familiar.

He was also part of the Mag-7 cast, although I'm blanking on the character's name.

SG:A looked hot. All of them. Rodney with the arms, and Sheppard in that shirt, and hell, they tied 'em all up, and just for fun, SG:1 put Claudia Black in that outfit. Good stuff.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Okay, Daniel's philosophical incoherence in the face of the Ori (or however you spell it) is really starting to get on my nerves.

Yeah, the whole "They're not actually gods, they're just ancient advanced disembodied beings. With nearly limitless knowledge and power. That can raise the dead. And want to be worshipped." approach really isn't that credible. What he should be concentrating on is painting them as foreign, EVIL gods that want to invade and destroy everyone who won't become their slaves and worship them constantly.

If I only had a brain...

I also agree that BB isn't giving us anything we haven't seen before. And Crichton had better writing. With Angst.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I think Daniel had one very good question that they let drop immediately: why do the Orii want to be worshipped? What are they getting out of it?

Our wings are not tired.

If I didn't have the big SG1 love already this season would not convert me. The only new character to hit the ground running is Vala.

Cameron is big hero guy I suppose, but all I see so far is a watered down Crichton.

Gen. Landry is not very general like and should maybe rethink this not retiring decision. So he has family issues. Not caring so much.

Haven't seen enough of Gerak to know what Gossett will add to the show.

All this new blood, and damn talented new blood, and yet no new energy. It isn't behaving like a new series spending some time introducing the environment and characters. It isn't acting like the series we know and love with some new faces either.

The why do the Orii want to be worshipped? question is the question that will be explored, as I am sure the development of the new Jaffa politics will be explored. We will find out more backstory on the new people.

Vala's presence in the mix is a lovely thing, and I love Claudia, but she overpowers the other characters. The balance is off. The episodes haven't worked as stand alone adventures.

I just want them to fix it, right now.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

What y'all said.

Also, in the preview for next week, the Prior looks an awful lot like Zhann. Hee! Also, I'm watching a terrible SciFi Insects from Outer Space! movie which had Teryl Rothery for about three minutes with a serious Texas accent (before she was killed by a moth masquerading as her husband. Don't ask).

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Sheppard in that shirt

Was that the nice black shirt, or is it a different nice shirt?
