Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Still so strange watching Hugh Laurie being American.

Yep. I went from watching a House episode to watching Hugh Laurie as Prince George in Blackadder III the other day. He's definitely got range.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

He's adorable in Sense and Sensibility. Just a handful of lines, into which he crams a universe of weariness.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Okay, seriously, the guys writing SGA now are the same guys who were writing it last year. There are times when one can play the "the new people just don't get it!" card, but this is not one of them. Everyone loves last year's season-ender, right? Well, the last two episodes of S1 were written by the same people who wrote the first two episodes of S2, and the guy who wrote Runner is Atlantis' executive producer.

All is well that ends in pizza.

...turning into Xander?

Huh.

Well, I like Xander.

So do I, but I guess I was referring to the fact they kept making him the comedy buttmonkey and occasionally nearly terminally stupid.

All is well that ends in pizza.

In other words, annoyance at Xander's treatment is now becoming annoyance at Rodney's treatment.

Funny how old fannish issues just keep going, isn't it? I get the same way.

They're going for comedy. Which means making Rodney look more annoying and stupid than he's been recently. I suspect it'll come back around.

In S2, Fay, he's gotten some, er, pretty dopey, stunt-for-grins stuff foisted on him. At least, I think that's what we're talking about. I think the writers need to calm down a bit is it, mainly.

We're talking about slapstick?

This isn't good.
