A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Funny, while live actors in S&M gear might make me slightly uncomfortable about watching with the folks, I'd have no problem watching the Muppet version with them.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I found Won't Get Fooled Again annoying, because it had no subtlety. Also, because, as methods of interrogation go, scrambled-eggs Freudian id is an incredibly stupid method.

It's a useful episode in a lot of ways, and some of the imagery is entertaining, but it's like sitting 2 inches away from the television and being able to count the pixels -- in the long term, not a satisfying experience.

Thrive to spite them

If it were Mom, I'd have no problem at all.

However, this is my dad. We don't really have a close relationship...he's extremely conservative and we clash on that. Several years ago I made the mistake of giving him a copy of "A River Runs through it" (the book), I didn't read it before hand and when I asked him about it he told me "it was okay except for all the whoring."

Muppet sex I could handle -- they are muppets. But S&M gear I can't watch with dad. It squicks me out too bad.

Wow. Can't picture my dad saying "whoring". Well, unless he was quoting or something.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

it's like sitting 2 inches away from the television and being able to count the pixels -- in the long term, not a satisfying experience.

Sounds like it sucks in the short term too.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I sometimes do sit that close, if I do not have glasses on. Not often.

he told me "it was okay except for all the whoring."

Is the book that different from the movie? Because, whoring is not what I remember from that book. Actually, I can hardly remember a single female character.

Men. And their -- fishing poles.

Is that the one with Madeleine what'shername and Brad Pitt and pretty-eyes, where Eliott from ET goes off to fight in the war?

Ah. Apparently not. Okay, never mind.

Except, what was that movie?

Apparently that was Legends of the Fall, and it had Julia Ormond in it, not Madeleine Stowe.

Oh God, now I have visions that I accidentally gave him Legends of the Fall. but River Runs Through It had fishing on the front.

I love Dad because he's my Dad, but I don't like him a lot of the times. He's very conservative and bigoted and he's pissed off both my brother and I with various remarks he's made in public.

I never thought he'd like Farscape, but he does, and watching dvds is one of the few things that we can do together that doesn't turn weird. When I move I still want us to have time that we can spend together. So I'm very cautious about what dvds we end up watching.

If I only had a brain...

There's whoring in "A Human Reaction". And why, yes, I do watch it over and over.
